It's a coincidence that he's a near team worst plus/minus on both teams.

A whopping 1 goal in 15 games. I guess Carbery isn't drawing enough diagrams in crayons with detailed instructions for PLD.
everyone knows that goals and assists don’t get marked down on the goal star system. How many back checking attempts did he attempt last game? That’s gold star worthy.

The guy just turned 26 and is already hated in 4 NHL cities lmao (and none of the hate is for dirty plays/injuring players). That's a crazy thing to accomplish this early in your career.
I live in Ottawa and hate him on behalf of those 4 teams, so he definitely has one strength besides wasting oxygen. Though tbf, he should be beloved in the Peg, they made out like bandits and most of them know it

He's been a literal soap opera since his days as a Jacket, butting heads with Torts, who is at the centre of enough drama himself over the years. Most people on here are hockey junkies and his life in the NHL has been some premium, straight from Colombia, uncut, grade A stuff 🤷‍♂️
Lol yeah I guess. Or he's just a lazy player who got the bag and doesn't care anymore. Tons of those in the NHL.

Why people obsess over him I'll never understand.
It's not obssess really, at this point it's just comedy I guess. He went on about how he needed clearer directions or whatever it was, seems like teams are not giving him clear directions like the Jackets, Jets, Kings, and judging by his production, maybe Caps too.

He kind of needs to take more accountability.

Totally agree on that point, but he was like this b4 he cashed in or it wouldn't be as juicy. Just getting drafted top 3 seems to have gone to this kid's head

I think PLD is a unique situation for everyone, because he has the skill to be way better than he's been so far in the NHL but he keeps burning bridges on teams and then it comes out there was some issues with not being clear about what they needed from him.

One team sure, two teams? Ok maybe that's a little odd, but 3 teams? That's a clear indication that it is the player, not the teams anymore. He's on pace for a decent season if you went by ppg, but his game isn't where it should be and he has all of 1 goal in 15 games. Carbery is a pretty good communicator as well so I am curious what the excuse will be if by the TDL he's on the move again.

How many coaches can he claim are not communicators? I mean I am not even sure what he wanted out of Todd McLellan, especially since the Assistant coaches will more often than not, work on more one on one things and the coach is there for the bigger picture talks. So I wonder if it's just him not understanding how that works across 3+ teams now or what.

I feel like if Washington doesn't work out and he's traded at the deadline and he doesn't fit on that 5th team, he's probably looking at stepping away from the sport for a bit like Daigle or Ranger and then coming back, or he has a hot streak and none of this matters.

No one is saying he's worth 8.5M - this thread is very weird about that.

He's just playing a bit better than advertised, that's all there is to it. He has upside, hopefully he can bring that to the table. And hopefully he finds the net going forward.

Do I wish more from a 8.5M contract? Yes
Do I make the same trade, Kuemper and two thirds to get PLD and Logan Thompson again? Also yes.

It was never about acquiring PLD alone, but becoming a better team and the team is better now than it was last year.
He’s getting a point every other game lately so he’s falling off from his start . So he’s on pace for around the same amount he had last year which everyone says was a bad season for him

He got the bag even though he never cared in the first place. Thanks to a trogdolyte of a person: Rob Blake.

If WSH fans are happy with him, he should get a gold star for that, and that's all that matters.

Why people obsess over him I'll never understand.
Why people act like people typing up a couple of comments on a hockey board about a player over the course of months means they're obsessed with a hockey player I'll never understand. Mostly just an elongated form of 'why do you even care bro lol'.

If(when) it doesn't work out in Washington he is as unnovable as Huberdeau, but shockingly probably even more so. He's big and that blinds some GM's, but I have to think the whole world knows what he is now, utter hockey poison
