Look what happened to Jaromir Jagr when he got man marked by Jay Pandolfo of the Devils, Jagr could not do shit. Was it fun to watch? No. Was it effective, yes.

Just stand by Ovechkins side and never leave on the PP, he cant score. Nobody has ever tried it. Just have one man stand and guard him, and not feck around about it.

A 4 on 3 is much more dangerous. Ovechkin just shoots a lot. His percentage is pedestrian but he’s allowed to shoot more than everyone else because it’s a good marketing for that team. They’re not seriously concerned with winning. Just getting OV the record. Sort of makes the record less meaningful imo. Mario was the best natural goal scorer of all time anyway.

Whats the worst thing that can happen? That the Caps PP still score and its not Ovi? Caps PP has been great because of Ovi. Remove him and let them have to figure something else out. Or just let him reign free.

Man marking is used in many other sports to take out key players, but never in in hockey, not even on the PP on the most stationary f***bag in sports history!

Disagreed because you then have an average shooter taking the shot instead of the best sniper in the league. Thats pretty much the whole deal. I know he is taking lots of shit shots as well, but he does put the puck in the net on a regular basis as well.

If Ovi scores goals at wills on the PP for 20 years, I would definitely man mark him and make the Caps have to adapt to a strategy they normally dont use and have not practiced. Worst case they still score goals, not just Ovi. But we have not seen a constant man marking of Ovi long term, but short term it has proven to stifle him!

This is shaping up like one of those games where Jarry plays really well for the majority of it, lets in an awful goal and is slow to get up afterward, starting the inevitable season-long nagging injury.

We’re too slow down the middle. If wingers aren't allowed to pressure dmen in our zone, I don't know how were supposed to generate offense? We’re not a “possession” team. Same story as every other year.
