My guess is 3 games for McAvoy. Not a lot of force, OEL wasn't injured, but the hit was definitely head first, blind side and was, in hockey terms, miles off the puck. I would argue that it was slightly worse than Clifton's because although Cliffy's was higher impact and put his opponent out of the game, he was making a valid check on a player with possession. Whereas McAvoy's was completely unnecessary and either cheap or very careless. So on the basis Clifton got 2, I say 3 for Chucky. Anything from 2-4 I could accept though.

To be fair it would be pretty much the same with Bruins fans if it were reversed.

Yup. 2 games for intentional head contact for the glancing blow to the face. This was not through the head, it was across the face. The damage from this is about as much as getting slapped across the face.

Two plus the ejection is plenty for the intentional act to the head. From there there’s not much substance. Just the obligatory show from OEL. He got up and had no problem complaining to the ref after his performance was complete.

I guess I can live with 4 seeing that he has other questionable face hits. It’s a bit much. But whatever. True, you just never know with league. They could have been dramatic and given him 10 and I wouldn’t be in complete shock.

It's so crazy for him to throw out this rumor that Jake was drunk and that's why he was late to the team meeting but NOBODY else has said it, published an article on it, or commented on it. It's irresponsible by him.
