This is my last game where I am punishing myself and not cheer for MY team. Disgusting really, but it was for good reason. This is it, this is my last tank game. This couldn’t end any sooner, it was unbearable for the last three seasons.

You know what I did more times than I’d like to admit? Fired up YouTube and watched the highlights of our cup run during the Covid season. Chills baby, chills.

Kudos to this board, the only spot where I use “social media” to converse with like minded fans. This place is still fun even through the ups and downs. Can’t wait for the lottery and then the last tank draft. GHG!

You are cheering for your team.

The current version of your team has no chance of winning the cup this year. If they lose tonight it only helps their chances of getting a really good player that can help them win a cup in the future. You're cheering for your team to win in the future by cheering for them to lose tonight.

Man this is such bullshit. Supporting the player would mean STFU about something reprehensible but fairly minor that happened when he was a minor. Virtue signaling at its finest.
Doesn’t bode well for Connelly then…

I'm fine with the statement and I don't think it bothers Mailloux. Whether other players have done worse is irrelevant.

He did something VERY BAD. He accepted the consequences and made ammends. Now he is cleared to play. The NHL is a business they can't not let know fans that Mailloux has made up for what he did. Otherwise, the fans don't know that he did and they lose their support/respect for the NHL as a place they want to take their kids. If OJ SImpson were still of age to play football, who would want to go see him? No way the NFL should let him play. Obviously it's a much different case. But the point is the same. Mailloux had to make ammends before being able to play in the NHL and the NHL is letting the fans know that he did.

We'll challenge for a wildcard spot at worst next year! Heads up! We're passed the worst of it.

It will be interesting to see if he's there when we go to the podium for the Jets pick.
Honestly, with all the culture stuff and the fact that Molson had to go to bat because of the backlash on Mailloux, I’d say we are DND him.

Agreed same caliber player at the draft, basically same odds for Celebrini.

Win the f*ckin game tabarnac, who cares 5OA / 6OA / 7OA it’s going to be a crapshoot after 1OA - it’s a wide open draft based on who teams “like”
My thought would be if this was the Wings. If I saw no value difference between 5th and say 7th.. id rather have the fifth and trade back to say 7. Even if it's just for a later pick?

I think so.

I was thinking the other day, if we got another 1st and drafted Iginla and Lindstrom, who heck would complain if we then drafted Connolly with the late 1st? If like Mailloux the kid is able to take responsibility for his actions, make steps to correct his behavior and advocate against what he did, I think the Mailloux example should show it is ok to draft a player that has made mistakes as a teenager but is rectifying them - again IF he is rectifying them.

Its because of what's going on with those other guys that currently aren't playing - they've given both Hockey Canada and the NHL a black eye and this is just lip service to show they're doing the right thing. It's pure bullshit.

Would a team trade from 12 to 16? The answer is for sure for the right offer. So the question is what is the right offer?

get mailloux and hutson as many looks as possible is smart, much better than playing them as 7th dman for 6 minutes as some other coaches we’ve had would do

he had to be cleared, old news; be glad it’s done and now a clean slate for him; might be part of the decision not to drag it over the summer and play him tonight :)

The majority of fans, like all owners, don't care about what a player has done. He could be a murderer, like Craig McTavish, and they won't boycott games he is in.

The majority of fans don't pay the bills. The corporations that buy season tickets and pay for advertising pay the bills and they do care.
