Was sitting in the lower bowl tonight and had a tap on my shoulder, someone said "Excuse me, Mr. Umberger" (referring to my jersey), I turned around to see John McConnell, I couldn't believe it - he thanked me for being a fan and we made some small talk. Was an awesome moment that I appreciated him taking the time to do!

Thought i'd share!

He probably thought you were Umberger.
Kidding.
Great story!

Now that we won: there is absolutely NO doubt in my mind they play McElhinney in one of these Florida games. Which one? And do you play him in both? I may play Mac in both.

I'd play McElhinney in Tampa and Bob against the Panthers. Give Bob a rest but not too long of one.

if Philly loses to Tampa, bank on Bob on Friday...

I wouldn't be surprised, but part of me wonders why, though. We've clinched the playoffs. I'm not assuming management is assessing 1st round opponents the same way we are. This is an honest question: do you think they're is anxious to move up the standings just to move up the standings?

Not unless seeding is done. Want to move up or at least maintain. Make Detroit or Philly face Boston and/or Pittsburgh. He'll be able to rest Sunday, Monday, Tuesday and probably Wednesday.

Don't forget, JF Omalycat. I'm sure those 2 were having a beer and watching the game from up above.:handclap:

He was awesome fan. Back in 2008-9, he'd buy a few games of my season tickets off of me for a few games when no one else would, so I helped him get tickets for his wife, daughter and him to game 2 of Detroit playoff series. I know they had the time of their lives.

Sorry guys, looks like I'm going to Game 3 and 4.

They have yet to win a game this year I went to. (Home opener vs CGY, first and second NYR home games, home game vs STL (OTL), home game vs Sharks (OTL), The new years eve game vs Pittsburgh, and the home loss vs Carolina.)

Any way I can reverse this?

certainly we need to try to catch the Flyers...Bruins and Pens in 1st round...gonna be tough

Rangers have Lundqvist, Pens have Fleury. (That Boston goalie, yikes)

I'm just not convinced management sees it the way you do, and would be smart to have a rested #1 goalie for whatever series we end up playing- because we ARE playing a playoff series

And we will try. We also sat Prout tonight. Richards is going to sub in fresh bodies (and we should). One of those bodies could be Bob. We've already seen that McBackup can play well enough to win; I don't see the issue.

It should be interesting to see how Richards manages the playoffs. This is kind of new to our staff as well (other than Hartsburg). I forget Richards didn't make the post season with the Wild (didn't really consider it actually).

well Bob will only play if it comes down to a really good chance of surpassing the Flyers in the standings. If they beat the Lightning, then I think it will be nearly impossible to do because they have the tie breaker on us right now

Yeah, I agree Mac can be good enough to defeat the Panthers, for example

Tampa lost Bishop, making that game much more winnable.

Put it this way, my thinking is that it's more important to have a hale and whole Bob in the playoffs than to squeeze out a first-round matchup that may not be any better than another. As it stands we face the Pens, a matchup against the #1 seed isn't at the moment on the table

not sure if serious???

why wouldn't you want to move up? we have a chance (very very slim one) to host the first round...so yes, you do want to move up

Just watched the end on dvr. Great game. Dallas threw everything they had at us and the Jackets held them off. Bob was excellent.
I'd love to somehow pass Philly but we're in and that's what counts.

I say start Bob until there is no chance of passing Philly. Defintiely play him in one game. I don't think you want him off for a week.

The CBJ have at least 3 days off (4 if they play the Rangers as the Knicks have a home game at MSG on the 16th) before the playoffs start. No additional rest needed - play Bob until their spot is finalized!

Back to back wins against two teams desperate for points was very impressive. The third period was nervy but give the Stars credit for raising their game. Hopefully Tampa can put forth that kind of effort tonight and have an empty tank on Friday.
