Wanna bet that half those negatives come from
Empty netters against if not more.

Sure. Because the right answer is seven. I also don't think it's going to make the argument you want it to make because iirc six of those came before January when he was removed from that unit and Walman/Seider took those minutes.

The guy was such a sieve defensively he couldn't be trusted when his skill set should have been a positive for us.

One thing that was noticeable is once we would go down, THATS when we would kick the offense into high gear. In other words, I think there is some untapped offense there that gets buried because of the “system” play which I think keeps the players focusing on d-zone play only. They only get the green light to turn on the offense when down, which is definitely on the coaching.

The team has enough talent to do better. The coaches system is holding them back.

Is Joel Quenneville's reputation so bad that he won't ever see another job in the NHL? Forgive my ignorance, I have not followed the controversy.

quite possibly, yes. I mean, think about everything Babcock has been accused of. Does any of it compare to having a role in hushing up someone being sexually assaulted? That's what baggage Quenneville has.

Fingers crossed, because he should never work in the NHL again. But I have a feeling Quenneville will be back. Gary is just waiting for the right time to minimize the understandable blowback.

Bettman cleared him to return earlier this year. I think the fact he hasn't been hired points to how little teams around the league want him around.

How about Federov for head coach? Didn't he have some success in Russia? Kind of want a star player as a coach for a change.

I don't know all the details. I thought it was because of the 3 or 4 Canada players sexual assault accusations.

Edit: I remember something going on about Kyle Beach as well.

Babcock's situation was mental abuse (I gather he was like Terence Fletcher, the conductor in the movie Whiplash). I just thought Quinnville got caught up in some mess and wasn't really privy to what was going on, but was cancelled anyhow.

Either way, Laldone needs to be replaced unless Yzerman doesn't really care about making the playoffs.

For the most part though, at least this has felt like a real hockey game as opposed to the train wrecks the last few games.

Sad to say but I think Buffalo is a pretty comparable team to ours.

Provided Wallinder and Buim(whatever mispelled) have good developmental years and other's I really feel next year we will see quite a few young guys on the roster.

Superstars often don't make the best choices for coaches. The vision they have, that makes them so good is often the biggest hurdle to them communicating to others because it comes to them so naturally.

Yeah Kasper also does this very well. Honestly I would really like to see us flip Kasper and Kane in the lineup. Kane is good but he is so f***ing nonchalant. I really liked what I saw from Kasper in flashes today and I would like to see him get more of an opportunity.

Kane always looks like he hasn't a care in the world, which has bugged me the whole time as a Wing.

Such a wonderful loss. Lose 5-3 to Buffalo and they keep stressing defense. Lol How many good looks did we have this game according to Lalonde.

At least they were legitimately bad -- it's New Jersey that never deserved their riches.
The thing about Buffalo and their high draft pick, yeah they got some decent players out of them, but Dahlin is very good, but he's not controlling games.

The only elite game changing player the Sabres have is Tage Thompson. They didn't draft him they traded for him. And St. Louis kinda threw him in, Buffalo wanted Thomas or Kyrou, St. Louis wouldn't budge so they took Thompson instead.

That's what you get with veterans that have literally accomplished everything they could already. He's going to have elite talent, and I think that's a net positive, but he's not going to sacrifice and have the drive of someone still hungry for their first bite.

Just finished watching. A few things:

- Fischer had a really rough game. Way too many turnovers for a guy who should be keeping it simple.

- Rasmussen had a strong game. Liked his work in close and around the net. Looks a little stronger this season.

- Did Tarasaenko play? Talk about invisible.

- Raymond and DBC both looked great.

Lidstrom coaching: "I sad, just make the right decision every single time. What is so hard to understand?!"

you didnt mention Gus sucking so might need to watch more than the highlights.

also, Tarasenko has been invisible for like 7 years. his role is to get 2 goals and an assist in a 5-1 win a couple of times per month so that he has okay stats at the end of the year. I used to be a Blues season ticket holder, as much hype and fan love as Tank gets, he's just second line winger PP specialist and always has been. he's still an upgrade over talentless pylons like Zadina though, so i dont mind him being on the Wings, but he is not a difference maker.

That is why I think he was an odd choice for our team. They are preaching defence and compete from the coaching staff and Kane and Tank are neither of those things.
