Gus has been disappointing for sure. I was hoping what he lacked in Ghost's offense he would make up being less bad on the defensive side of things.

I can start to see things clicking with passes but then other times he botches simple plays like he's using someone else's stick. Hopefully he settles in.
Yea he's not the only player with the no look passes in the D zone. Holl and dcat come to mind as well. Petry and Chiarot seem to struggle clearing the puck often as well. They go for the rim jobber/ no clear, play often

Kane really is odd to watch.. when it's working I find it hard to complain, but when it's not it feels really easy to call out his nochalant style of play.
I feel like that's just Kane's style. When he's out there he looks like he's screwing around in practice, not in a game.

So when he's scoring you marvel at how easy he makes it look. When it's not going well, it looks like he doesn't care.

I'm sorry you were so harshly harrassed about Gustafsson.

But me saying the ghost fake lore out there is bullshit has nothing to do with that.
Yeah, the back story is un-needed for sure but the fact you're acting like one guy isn't better than the other is out right disingenuous.

I don't disagree at all on this one. I think Kane is anomaly in comparison to what the team's identity has been for so long. Even our high skilled players have so often been high compete, back checking, players. Kane has obviously earned the right to play the game his way.

I think we deserved a point here. 3 crossbars/posts and 2 slam dunk chances by DeBrincat and Kane. How kane and DeBrincat missed them is a mystery.
Seider was our best player. Kasper was great. Edvidsson had 2 bad turnovers.
Our PK is brutal, PP is not great. 4-4 after 8.

How did you get gus>ghost from my post at all?

I'm calling out this notion that we let a Hanifin walk out the door.

Ghost made 4.125m with us last season, had his 2nd best point total over his career. I'm having a hard time believing he didn't want 5mil+ here. A raise for sure with those numbers. Yet 4 hours after free agency started he signs for 3.2mx3, so he gets less than his previous year.

Feels like the same thing we saw with Bertuzzi, oh I would've given Bertuzzi that contract! Yeah no shit, because he got humbled when he went to market.

One line and one pairing team, unfortunately

Going to lose most road games when you can’t control matchups
Lalonde should split Seider and Edvidson on the road.

Maybe Yzerman did not want to give him more than 1 year

Maybe from some. Myself personally, I'd take the PP specialist who comes in as advertised. He was bad defensively no doubt, but did help to elevate the PP. So far Gus is just...... well the discount version, which maybe we should have expected
I’ll take ghost over every single one of our D except Mo and Ed. Why? Because he may be bad defensively but the difference between him and the rest of the D is he spends way less time actually playing in his own zone. He can move the puck

He didn’t give gus 1 year either though

I hate watching the games and getting invested knowing we are still in a wait it out season as we wait for kids. But even then doesn't excuse not having a coherent defensive-transition system in place for when the kids get here. We need to drill the flips and rim arounds out of our players. Pass to a teammate.

yeah, sitting in the offensive zone would make sense for how the other team could be scoring enough while he was out there to make him -16 on the year.

Yeah….besides ASP and Cossa, I’m not sure which kids you think are gonna turn around this team

Yzerman has about 7 more games to figure out if he wants a coaching change. If he doesn't fire Laldone, then he has no highly regarded interest in making the playoffs this season.

This isn't a "must make playoffs" season, but it sure would be nice for them to get some experience. The coach's "system" is holding them back.

The team has enough talent to do better. The coaches system is holding them back.

Is Joel Quenneville's reputation so bad that he won't ever see another job in the NHL? Forgive my ignorance, I have not followed the controversy.

Lalonde should sit Berggren or Veleno, maybe both. Kasper has outplayed them big time. Berggren is creative but gets outmuscled all the time. Veleno needs to use the brain, he is timid. Tonight he shoots from the bad angle without checking if anyone was available for the pass, then next time he forces the pass when he should shoot for the rebound.
Holl was brutal tonight. It was Lalonde's fault. He was on the ice several times vs their top line.
4-4 is not a bad start considering the schedule, 4 games vs top dogs 4 games vs teams we are not better than.

The whole team is allergic to shooting the puck. So many grade A scoring chances and they look for the pretty passing play . No wonder we get out shot by a lot every game, they are way too cute and won't shoot the ******* pick

Kane was absolutely horrible in that game...like wow, was he ever terrible. He doesn't even look like he's trying, and just gets the puck and stock handles on the spot and does nothing.

Coaching. You can see these players are extremely frustrated. I hope they get blown out tomorrow and Wednesday and force Yzerman to make a much needed coaching change. One of the best coaches of all time is available. Snag him up before someone else does.
