A lot depends on it this year.

Playoff Phil is money, not worried about him at all. Last year down the stretch he looked worse than he does now and sure enough he was QBing the PP with authority in game one against Cbus.

What a waste of space on this board. all the world needs another condesending, I am smarter than anyone else person, this board is not miserable place, people discussing a subpar performance of a team that has potential to be great, nothing less nothing more

I wasn't trying to be condescending or smart. I was reading the posts and noted how miserable everyone seemed and it made me sad. We all love this game and this team, and we seem to hate watching the team right now. Sucks.

You jumped so far to your conclusion that I'm not really sure what else to say. I've been contributing to the discussion too, my friend.

Rust looks like he’s working better with Sid and Jake lately.
I think this line is a keeper, I saw a statistic Rust is leading the league in SA/60 I think, If Sid continues like this and jake get a bit better that could be a staple line in play offs

Kessel man WTF. Every puck to him is now an adventure. Game 79 and still every line seems no one can play with anyone.

I mean, the fatal flaw is that Crosby and Malkin are insanely passive and we added an even more passive player in Kessel.

But, at worst it is a top ten power play.

At worst it is a top 5. It’s okay to have players who pass a lot, it might hurt in a couple situations but generates plays that other teams can’t do either. Things tend to simplify in the playoffs anyway. At the end of the day you can’t really have more success than they do in the modern NHL. It’s not likely they’re breaking 30% if they shoot more.

Not worried about Phil, Geno, Sid or Horny or even Schultz. I am worried about Letang and Guentzel tho

I agree. But, I don’t think the issue is passing, it is trying to be TOO creative. The obsession with the pass through the center of the ice, the drop passes to no one.

playing to the competition level. so many errant passes. so many lazy strech passes rather than carrying the puck or moving the feet to skate. ehh...at least they seem to be responsible a bit defensively.

he was solid before OT last game too. Like Phil and Geno, it's not where I'd put him, but it's not nearly as bad as others seem to want to believe. Guentzel-Rust was Sid's most productive line last playoffs and 2nd most used wing combo. It's not some new thing, and it has worked for us before.

The only line that produced more for us was Geno and Phil
