I’m really hoping the PK is just not worrying about shotblocking yet, or else that really has the potential to sink a series..

I wouldn’t be surprised if there had been injuries there. Kessel could be healthy now but knocked off his rhythm or in full float mode until the playoffs.

I think we've seen something similar, but less pronounced, with Geno the last week and a half. Not floating, but off his rhythm, so he isn't going to go out of his way to kill himself.

As a side note, I was told a while ago that one of Sid's issues playing with Horny is the guy goes to the net and effectively screams 'get me the puck, I'm open'. Drove Sid nuts, and one side effect was it meant Sid had to do a ton of battling in the dirty areas with less support. I think we saw a similar things with HGH. When the line started, Horny was in the dirty areas battling to get Geno the puck. Over time, it became Geno battling in the dirty areas to get Horny the puck. When the rhythm was there, he'd do it, but this also was the origin of HGH starting to be 'off'. When it got off more and more, I think he took a step back, and it just threw the whole line's rhythm off even more. I think you've seen something similar with Sid with several linemates over the course of the year. And, yes, long story short, maybe that's where you now are at with Phil.

Why? when Sheary and Horny are working well with Sheahan.....

It’s Sheary and Horny as a pair ...they work with Sid too...they can work with most centers (although I hate Sheary with Geno)...they’d work with Brass

Drouin is very highly skilled. I always wanted to get him but then Jake lessened that want.

He was a rebel with Tampa, didn't he get sent down and refused to go and ended up being a big hit in Tampa.

I can see that being the case. Sid and Horny get so intense during the games, and we've seen them argue on the bench. Sid is probably better off with calmer guys like Guentzel who just quietly play. Put too many type A guys on a line and you can get some hilarious arguments on the bench.

You know, I still think the smartest play is Sheary-Sid-Horny, HGR, and Jake-Brass-Phil. I also would love the 4 line model without Kuhn that has been discussed.

BUT, here's what I think happens. Winger pairs stay the same. When Brass returns, one of him or Sheahan is on L3, and the other is on L4.

In some ways similar to Letang, I think HMK will be the life or death of this team, depending upon which Phil you get.

IF you keep Sheary-Sheahan-Horny together, it means at least one of Brass, Phil, Rust on L4.

It could work IF Sully were willing to scratch Kuhn. I don't see that.

I wouldn't mind Jooris in. He's actually decent.

I'd run two 3rd lines.

Jooris-Brassard-Rust
Sheary-Sheahan-Hornqvist

In a weird way I'm glad the Habs are making us work for this one. This team doesn't need easy games right now. They need tests that persuade them to play the right way or lose.
