I'm sorry but most of you couldn't sound more self righteous and, to be frank, older than dirt about us having a group of fans that call themselves the 5th line. They are there to support the club, after that nothing else really matters does it? I am struggling to find the logic of some on this board, so often you complain about there being opposing team fans in the building, and now you're complaining about there being Blue Jacket fans in the building.

Enjoy the fact that there are people who want to get involved with this hockey club. It may come as a surprise to some of you that going to the game can be a social event where you can make friends who share a common interest and want to develop their own experience at the games. If they're being respectful and cheering for the Blue Jackets then what's everyone freaking out about? Quit pissing and moaning because the team you love has more fans now, you sound like a bunch of hipsters whose old favorite band is now playing stadium tours.

I've been involved in some of the best HF debates before, but this... this is the best.

I'm not gonna go on about it but since I feel a little called out here (older than dirt?? FYI pal, hipsters and stadium tours don't mix!) I'll just say that if you're gonna put it out there like that, hashtag and all, don't be surprised when other people who like the same team you do aren't compelled to represent that like in the same way.

I enjoy talking to people at the games but I don't think of it as a social event. Just my wiring, not a joiner.

Anyway, I'm not freaking out, I just think it's lame. I figure, leave it the young professionals employed by the CBJ to come up with slogans and stuff. I'm just a guy who likes the team, I don't need to be sold on it.

But different strokes, right? The 5th Line movement will live on and so will my and my buddies' chuckles.

So the implication is not that ALL the fans are the fifth line?

I honestly have no idea, sadly I haven't been able to watch many games the past few years given my time difference, but from what I'm deducting on the boards this is a small group of fans who identify themselves as the fifth line. Even still many on here are saying, I don't care what THEY do, thus separating the two. I also have no idea what the intentions of the 5th line are, are they trying to brand the fans at NWA as the fifth line?

That is perfectly acceptable, I don't think anybody in the arena is looking at you going (look at those dudes just chatting away while the game goes on). Hockey is a team game, being a fan of the same team is non-agreed upon camaraderie, it's what makes all sport great. Being in France I know that if I ever see someone rocking Blue Jackets gear I'm 10,000x's more inclined to go speak to that person, however if I saw that same person walking down the same street that same day and they were wearing plain clothes I would never be interested in interacting with them.

Johansen is so clutch. Hard to believe he's put up 32 goals and 59 points and isn't even close to being in his prime.
Down the road, I can see Joey being a potential 40+ goal scorer and 90+ point player. I can see him being miles better than Nash ever was or will be. IMO, Joey is already a better all-around player than Nash.

phenomenal photo.

Does anyone else worry about an injury during the those celebrations? ala Teddy Ginn.

That was my first thought. Don't forget Jason Arnott of Nashville was knocked out of a playoff series against Detroit with a concussion caused in a celebration.

This is sounding more and more like a rebranded ACA. That created drama, I guess this will to.

I only mention this about "I don't care what they do". ACA had all kinds of drama around some of the things they did.

Seems like we like to get worked up over this stuff. I don't get it. They don't represent me, so I don't really care one way or another. They do something stupid, it's on them.

Let's not get crazy here people. Not very long ago he was a problem child/selfish player that the coach wasn't even sure should be on the team.

I'm just hoping that the coaching staff & leadership group have truely gotten through to him & this new "public" attitude is real & he doesn't revert back when he hits a few bumps in the road which are undoubtedly coming.

The difference between #WeArethe5thLine and ACA is that ACA is a club that has dues and a specific section in the upper deck and the fifth line (I think) was meant to encompass the entirety of the Blue Jackets fans in attendance.

Are you that guy who asks Portzline in the Dispatch chat about Cam and Johansen's "rock star" attitudes every week?

It could be argued that the 5th line, or the ACA are just rebrandings of "Carry The Flag", "Join The Battle", "Ignite the Night", or any of the banners in the southeast corner of the arena under the press box that have a players name and then a pronoun, they just haven't been created by the organization...

That seems to be an interesting representation of events. There was some early scratches; but after that he played his role well later in the season and was rewarded with more and more responsibility from the coaching staff.

The only issue was when he got sent down the AHL for the playoffs and got scratched. JD also indicated there was (and still some) concern about his conditioning (as JD indicated it's mainly because he's still young).

JD indicated that was a wake up call to Johansen and he really re-dedicated himself in the off season and will get that same direction this off season (as all players should).

I think your representation is off.

You are truly ignorant if you haven't noticed how much Johansen has matured this season, both on/off the ice. The Johansen we're seeing this season is the true Johansen, and player we were hoping he would become when we drafted him.

Joey deserves every bit of the recognition and respect he's received league-wide this season.

Not really. ACA was a fan group from the Crew. The rest of that is marketing slogans; they are not an organization of any kind. You might be able to reference the Jacket Backers.

Not sure it makes any difference; I was just saying it sounds like another fan group trying to go viral with people getting worked up over nothing.

and people think I'm negative on these boards. I'd like to see some evidence of this "problem child/selfish" thing....he was a healthy scratch in the AHL playoffs last year. So what? Aside from that, what has there been? Has there been a single issue with Joey this year?

He's selfishly scoring all the goals. What does he have now: 32 goals, with four being GWG? ****ing diva.

I'm not sure what part of my post makes you think I haven't noticed how much he's matured this season. That's the whole point, I have noticed & so has everybody else. You act like no young player has ever let success go to his head.

Let's just hope he keeps maturing as a person & a hockey player with the guidance of the coaching staff & leadership group of which he will be a big part of "if" he keeps this maturation up.

I know you've been waiting for my comments, so here it goes.

I hate Seattle fans that wear those #12 jerseys. When you are paying tribute to yourself for being such a good fan, in my book you are a d-bag. Go and cheer THE TEAM or your favorite player.

The Fifth Line and ACA aren't at that level, and if it makes for a louder arena, I'm OK with that. Just remember you are there for the team, not the other way around.

Hahaha. ACA is so full of BS blowhards! They rally round their soccer scarves but can rarely sell their section seats. The lower bowl shoot twice end has been leading most of the rally cheers and noise. It's a habit to count the Scarf wearers in 227 each game and most nights, there are around 10. Or less.

I get it, the whole arena has trouble selling, but don't self aggrandize ACA, you don't actually make an impactful difference to the general game experience.
