Man, yet another game late in the season where they leave points on the table, and yet another game of timely mistakes costs them.
Right on the heels of an outstanding game from Tyson Barrie at both ends of the ice, and he plays a big role in giving up two goals tonight. Landy makes a bad back pass and turns it over inside the blueline. Then Barrie makes a bizarre pinch on the far side, after Zadorov has already pinched, and the Avs don’t even have the puck. Leads to a clean breakaway to tie the game 1-1.
No big deal, because Tyson Jost scores a couple huge goals and they’re up 3-1 going into the 3rd.
A little over halfway through the 3rd, Soda loses yet another D zone draw clean, gets caught sleeping, and leaves his man wide open for an easy tap in to an empty net. Now it’s 3-2.
Ok, we can get through this. Just play smart hockey, win your one on one battles, don’t give up any unnecessary chances, and we leave with two points, and the Ducks get none.
Then a couple minutes later, Barrie stops skating to swipe at a puck in the air just inside his own blue line. He misses, then gets beat wide, and gives up a clean shot from a weird angle on Bernier that would have been an easy block. It pops out front directly to Kesler and boom, they tie the game 3-3, then lose in OT.
Now they get one point instead of two, and they give the Ducks two points instead of none. So frustrating., but no time to dwell on it with a massive back to back now tomorrow night.
Hope I’m wrong, but that LA game is gonna be a tough one to pull out. They're gonna be beat up after this one, and LA is just gonna come out and play the same way Anaheim did. Gonna be a huge 1st period. They got to find a way to get the first goal. Hopefully they find some bounces, because they might need em.
