Agreed. I would call up danielson, Lombardi, Tuo/wallinder maybe even both. Get these guys a cup of coffee against good NHL teams. It also raises the level for when they go back to GR for a playoff run

It's alright comrades. I didn't watch, but outside looking in it seemed tight till the third.
This team has beat our inner feelings up pretty well but this year, now though, you can think of how to get better vs thinking of trading Larkin.
The draft/Summer/etc. It's all ahead for us to ponder on. I don't think that idea starts, legitimately, with the idea of moving Larkin.
I actually have the feeling the summer will be a little different. I still dont know if I'll get my star player, I just don't know who will be available, but, with how the last two years played out, and the flat summer last offseason. I'm expecting some sort of "pop" this summer for fans. Outside of this forum, the people are starting to not care.

Yeah at this point, entertain a Larkin trade. If we could snag a Lindstrom/Hage type center in a deal you do it ten times out of ten.
I respect him and would like him to get a Cup eventually, I just don't think he can do it in Detroit.

By no means am I saying "toss him away", but he's our biggest tradable asset. Low end 1C high end 2C with speed and hands could land this team a haul with players that better fit the window.
Plus it removes some pressure from him being the captain of this perennial dumpster fire, he can go just be a dude in a system and hopefully get a ring doing so.
Think the Stafford trade.
Of course, the same doubts were had about Steve Yzerman in the mid 90s. We shall see what happens.

I watched the season roll off of Compher's stick. With that said the playoffs would be disappointment, just delayed a few weeks.

Always said he wouldn’t be the guy to drag us to the promise land and help us win the cup. I dont think we can take the C off him and give it to Seider in this moment and time. He has a ntc I can’t see him waiving it when he sees all the kids finally coming up
He knows danielson , pellika ,Cossa are right around the corner among others. I’d be shocked if he says ok cool I’ll leave. If he goes it’ll be during his last 2 years
If we want to make a move trade debrincat. I see no chance of Yzerman giving him 7-8 yrs on his next deal. He just scored 35 so he has value and still has 2 yrs. if we sign marner , move him for a d partner for Seider

Yzerman would be dumb not to re-up Cat. As far as I’m concerned he’s clearly been our best player all year. He actually forced his way to get here and he is competitive as hell. He fights, he battles, he’s a natural scorer and his game will age well because he doesn’t rely on speed. Trading him is just stupid

He’s also 5’8 and I can’t imagine him being a huge impact and not being tossed aside when the playoff comes. Also have to think we have Kasper, danielson coming , nygaard ... raymond,larkin,Soderblom etc.. what if we signed a marner or got an impactful top 6 guy? There’s Only 4 spots on the wing on the top 6
I can be proven wrong but I think there was a reason he got a 4 year deal. If he’s willing to resign 3-4 yrs ok but if he wants 7-8 I can’t see Yzerman giving him that

... always stated Kasper and Raymond was my picks way before the drafts and here’s one of Kasper Seen one of December of me saying seider is the next captain but couldn’t find one yrs ago yet

Montreal is having a better season, two things that have helped with that. One, their 2 best forwards didn't go burn themselves out at 4 nations like our 2 did. Suzuki took off after the break he received from that tournament.
Second, their trashy plugs are finally playing to their highest level. Gallagher, Anderson, Dvorak, all guys Montreal fans in the past had been begging to get rid of. They are contributing now.
Our trashy plugs have been really bad and were the shining example of why we lost last night. Tank, Holl, Compher all had huge mistakes that cost the team big time.

The case for moving Larkin would be that he would actually bring value back. If we want to 'rebuild' the rebuild, the only way to do that would be to move a Larkin or Debrincat. Not saying I want to make this move, however there is a case to be made to move these players to get better in areas of need. Even if we manage to rid ourselves of Holl, Tarasenko, Holl; we aren't getting anything in return. We can easily waive any of these players if they are blocking a prospect next season. Furthermore, their contracts are not holding the team hostage. I can certainly see shutting down Larkin but do the Griffins have a chance at the playoffs? I’d rather Danielson get that experience playing big minutes.

Honestly the thing that would have me most disappointed in Yzerman is if next season Holl plays even one game for the Red wings.
We tend to get hyperbolic here on the forums but Holl is genuinely staggeringly bad and is a rare case where an AHL Dman actually couldn’t do worse.
