Well, I haven't liked some of the results the last week, but the team has played very well since the loss on Long Island. The brand of March/April hockey that longtime CBJ fans have craved has arrived for the second year in a row. I'm always excited for CBJ games, but the last two Fridays especially have been awesome for me as a fan even though the Jackets lost and I wanted to burn my AmeriFlora t-shirt.

Hate to lose games like the one tonight, but these guys have to learn how to finish. What a lesson from Chicago, all night long with them PUTTING THE PUCK ON NET. (And another lesson from their fans, who have shown us once again that Columbus fans need to do a better job of selling our team and the game itself locally, b/c who the hell can really afford to go down there every game :)) Our guys are getting so close, just can't quite finish. Playing with real balls.

I have no gripes with the swallowing of the whistles in the third, but there were some really bad calls on the whole. Missed high-stick to Calvert (end of 2nd period?), and that weird business with miscounting skaters at the end of regulation seemed to move that last F/O into our zone (I'll have to look back through the thread to see what happened there); those were the big ones for me but there were others. Still, we had our chances.

Anywho, that was fun hockey and our guys played the way a playoff team should play. Can't wait for Sunday. Go Jackets :yo:

So, its been a few hours and after a few drinks my overreactive spell is now over.

We're still in a position to make it. We must beat the Isles Sunday, theyll be tired as they play New Jersey today and they're also playing for their lives. I posted our schedule the rest of the way and how alot of the teams we play are playing on B2B's, so we have that going for us I guess. But I got to admit, tonight still stings and I still have very high doubts we make it.

Agree it will be tough to make it. Toughest stretch of 8 games in 12 days is coming up

Very high doubts? I mean I also tend to feel like our chances aren't as good as the sportsclub model says they are (given that they don't take into account our anything-can-happen youthfulness / inability to close it out), but we have to be above 50%.

We should probably just expect to be screwed by the refs whenever the Blackhawks are in town. Random faceoff placement, phantom goaltender interference. They always get a lot of help stealing points.

Well just finished watching the game. Heartbreak city, looks like I'm headed to bed depressed tonight. Very gritty performance from the guys, was proud watching it even in defeat, just hard to accept, my jaw dropped when that puck went in.

Ah well, nice to see Caps lose tonight. Looking forward to Sunday's game. Go Jackets!

Yes, I'm still frustrated. Even when I try to speak positive I keep speaking negative. We still control our destiny. We can do it

Would you feel the same if Toronto loses tomorrow in regulation?

It would suck if NJ wins though.

If TOR loses in reg tomorrow then i'd be back to being confident.

Actualy I am already back to being confident. I'm still just frustrated.

I really want NJ to lose

If we close 3-2-0 (91pts), then Toronto has to go 4-0 (92) to pass us, New Jersey has to 5-0 (92)* and Washington can't pass us (best they can do is 91 and we have tiebreak).

*New Jersey could get in tied with us if we don't win all 3 in regulation/ot and they go 4-0-1 with none of the 4 wins come in shootouts.

Obviously, it's possible Toronto or New Jersey runs the table, but not very likely.

4-1 or 3-1-1 and we're in, no questions asked.

We're still in control, but really we should have had this thing wrapped up by now.

Another reason why this loss hurts is Columbus needs to take advantage of getting points before they get tired. The four games in 5 nights is a killer. How long does it take to get from Columbus to Dallas?

It's about 2 hours and 20-30 minutes from Dallas to Cleveland. So I'd say Columbus is probably 10-15 minutes shorter than that. At least we're going from the eastern time zone to the central time zone with the Phoenix/Dallas games and not the reverse.

I have not read this whole thread so I dont know if there are any other comments about the lines. Last nite was the worst job Richards has ever done. The Calvert, Letestu, Comeau line was totally ineffective. Adding Frattin to Joey's line killed the effectiveness of that line (Joey's goal came when he was with Dubi and Cam). We played last nite with two effective lines. Richards poor coaching is partially to blame for last nite.

I blame Jarmo more than I blame Richards. Teams competing for a spot all added to their teams. The Jackets did not. We need that additional goal scoring that a Moulson, Vanek or Camallari could have brought to this team.

That loss sucked and I still think we'll make the playoffs but the team's inability to beat the best teams is really weird.

We're going to get annihilated by Boston.

inability? Haven't seen much ability to beat them, just lose to them.

I know last night's game was devestating, but I'm going to come right out and say it: That was one of the ten best games I've ever been to in NWA. Unfortunately, it went the other guys' way in the end, but that only lightly takes away from a terrific night of hockey. Like a lot of you, I was very emotional after the game. Moody, brooding. all I needed was a black turtleneck and a glass of cab to complete the effect. In reflection, though, it was an all-timer. Let's go get 'em tomorrow night, boys!

I feel the same way, brother.

I'm still a little despondent, but I'll bring it tomorrow. Must. Win.

I was at the game last night, what a kick in the jimmies...

Started off very strong, great first period but they really let up in the 3rd. I think they were trying to coast to OT, play prevent. I think Bob did everything he could. If they miss the playoff this will be one of those games to point to as a missed opportunity. Now we need to win and hope Toronto loses.

I agree Jarmo failed as a GM at teh trading deadline. But there is no excuse to put Frattin in there when Tropp was available. I am not a big Tropp fan, but Frattin played the biggest pansy game I have ever seen. As soon as he touched the puck, the Hawks just knocked him off of it adn took it away.

Right now the focus is getting in, that is all that matters

This team needs to learn not only how to get in the playoffs, but what it means to play in the playoffs
