They are defensemen. Primary job is playing defense. There is a reason CMiller gets the least minutes of all defensemen on the team. Only played 13+ minutes tonight, hardly one of the best players.

You mistake best players for improved and positive play. For me, Colin Miller brought a strong positive to his play and had a great game for what is expected of him. And for the record, his primary job is to create quick transition and jump into the play on top of playing defense. How many goals were scored on him tonight?

San Jose has lost 6 straight.

Okay... That's bad.

Still, Nashville can be dangerous. Arvidsson is really good this year. And that Forsberg guy isn't bad either. Wonder which goalie we will get. They play the Islanders the night before.

Bonvie still thinks it's 2011 and big strong defensive D are the more valuable than guys who can actually move the puck out of their own zone with effectiveness.

Failing on all six power plays, the Islanders dropped a 2-1 decision to the Bruins in a sold-out Barclays Center to fall two points back of Boston for the final East playoff berth with eight games to go. The Islanders hold a game in hand, but this one stings, given what was at stake.

“I can’t sit here and say we played a terrible game,†Travis Hamonic said after the Islanders put just 19 shots on Bruins backup Anton Khudobin — to just 18 Bruins shots on Thomas Greiss. “We had our opportunities and you’d love to win a big game like this. Win or lose, though, this wasn’t deciding the playoff spot. We still have eight left.â€

But the crowd of teams behind them in the playoff chase is starting to breathe on the Isles’ necks again.

The Lightning remains a point back of the Isles and the Hurricanes are three back with a game in hand. So a win in Saturday night’s grind of a game would have given the Islanders a good cushion heading into the final two weeks.

Nashville just beat San Jose 7-2, Tuesday will not be an easy game

No games are easy for the Bruins, but on a positive note Nashville has to play the Islanders on Monday night and then travel to Boston for the Tuesday night game, playing 3 games in 4 nights.

Hopefully, that will be an advantage for the B's.

Wow. Just saw the no-goal...man, I hate it when it's incidental contact outside the crease.

I'll be the first one to waive it off if there's contact with the goalie while he is in the paint...just about any contact...

Outside the crease, damn, you better be sure he made contact on purpose, IMO, if not, it should be good.

It wasn't like Backes wasn't getting nudged by the defender.

The Bruins come up on the short end of these reviews so much. They say, "it all evens out"...

Umm. We've got more than a few calls going our way to come. Better hurry up.

The part that got me is how much time there was between the contact and the goal, and the fact that Greiss didn't even try to get up.

Nobody watches every game in the league, but I can't imagine any team has been screwed by these calls more than the B's.

Folks, if you haven't heard, Andersen went down with an upper body injury in the Leafs game and the floodgates opened. 5-2 Buffalo now.

Watched this one after my Costco Saturday night with Mrs Odaat rather than the B`s game as my frustrations were starting to affect my day to day life and even before the Anderson exit, the Leafs looked like a team who completely took the Sabres too lightly and in all honesty, it appears the Sabres are finally healthy and they are far better than their record indicates

Twas nice to hear the B`s score on the HNIC broadcast

My wife can't even drive by that store without spending $300.... for the sake of your wallet we may have to start a gofundme.

I have no pride, I`ll take whatever you guys/gals forward to me. I did return in time to catch the B`s game but chose the Leafs/Sabres tilt to avoid blood pressure issues.

Did it look serious?

Upper body as in shoulder/neck or concussion?

actually it was tough to know what the injury was, there were two potential plays where he "may" have injured himself, my guess is the 2nd one where it looked like Kane landed square on his shoulder (catching a bit of his head) in front of the net while Anderson was on his stomach

And ....... exhale! The collective blood pressure of Bruins fans has thankfully retuned to more normal levels!

Nash (who says: how do you like me now?) and Doby saved DK and Backes from a very sleepless night. Never mind the many keyboards spared the rage of posters banging out their frustrations and demanding that heads roll.

PK was simply outstanding on the night. It is a mystery how a team can struggle one night with special teams play and poor defensive team play and turn it all around the next game.

With some air back back in the tires they have no time to relax as they get ready for the next biggest game of the season. Keep it rolling boys!

Being as I am a super-objective observer, I have to agree. B's got screwed on this one.

You listed 5 players that you said had great games. CMiller was one of them.

He played 11:50 and had two penalties. No, goals were not scored when he was on the ice. But he was on the ice way less than any other defensemen and twice put his team on the spot by taking bad penalties.

And not to be too picky, but primary means "First or highest in rank or importance". Therefore his primary job cannot be "to create quick transition and jump into the play on top of playing defense". I still contend playing defense is a defenseman's primary job.

Agreed, which is why I think you see Cassidy playing him with some shelter. He`s not a guy I would trust with 18 mins a night as he still struggles in the D zone but man is it nice to see a Bruins D-man who`s legs can skate him out of trouble

Disclaimer: didn`t catch the tilt last night so my comments aren`t based on the game vs the Isles
