Maybe they didnt do that earlier because of Price. Drafted 2 next 7 drafts after him late in rounds 4 and 7. Missed on Fucale. Picked one in 6th and 7th next 5 yrs hence the hole now.

Carolina drafted 3 goalies in 2021, and another one in 2022. If you have a lot of draft capital, you might as well do it. Goalies take a lot longer to develop.

FWIW, Stéphane Waite was saying the same about Primeau on AC last week. He needs to get through age 25, as often happens for goalies who break out.

Otherwise, he’ll be like Montembeault and some other team will get him at the point when he’ll have begun figuring things out.

He was the most used forward last night. He only missed the end of OT, not "quite a bit". And the only reason he went to the room was because the spotters told them to take him to have the concussion protocol.

If he's in, it's because he didn't have a concussion.

I think we either trade Primeau at the draft, or lose him on waivers next season. Too many teams who'll definitely give him a long look, including tanking teams like Arizona, Chicago, San Jose & Columbus all of whom have really poor goaltending depth.

Even a goalie like Malcolm Subban got claimed 1st time he was on waivers, and kept getting claimed until settling on being an AHL goalie.

I don't expect Primeau back next season.

That could be Lemieux jr. Ristolainen hits to hurt and Deslauriers is a heavyweight willing to go anytime. All other Flyers are nice guys.

Might as well get something for him. All teams realize there is a long learning curve for goalies — they’ll gladly swoop in and take advantage of the development invested by the Habs over so many years and hope he might be at the cusp.
