Eh the team isn’t the only common denominator here, look at Hughes & Stutzles skating vs Kakko & Lafs

There is no doubt it’s a skating league. Good vision and reads and the legs and edge work to get to the open space or create space when there isn’t any are huge.

It’s not just speed. Fox is slow but has stellar edges and it allows him to be nifty and elusive. Stutzle and Hughes are both flat out fast AND slippery. Combine that ability with processing the game quickly and anticipating where the puck is going to be, or what route the defender is going to take enables you to have time to make plays. If you’re not thinking 2 steps ahead and don’t have the speed and edge work to give yourself a little space than you’re just reacting and playing hot potato with the puck.
