Sounds like they're eyeing Gareth Edwards to take over the Dune franchise after Villeneuve finishes up with Dune Messiah.

Edwards has directed:
Monsters (2010)
Godzilla (2014)
Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (2016)
The Creator (2023)

And he's the director on the next reboot of Jurassic Park which comes out this summer.

I think Jurassic Park as a franchise is well beyond saving; so far they've had one great movie and five utterly horrible ones.

I thought he did a decent job on his other movies but his work lacks the depth that Villeneuve has displayed with stuff like Blade Runner 2049, Arrival, Dune, and Prisoners. Hopefully he can rise to the challenge if he indeed gets the assignment for Children of Dune.

He can't possible make a worse Dune movie than David Lynch did, so at least we have that going for us.

I kind of feel sorry for Edwards. I'm not sure how much of an appetite the general public gets for how wierd the story becomes after Messiah.

Children of Dune is a pretty straight up story, really. Much easier to adapt than Messiah which is a much more abstract story about people scheming in secret.

It's God Emperor of Dune that is probably impossible to adapt. 500 pages of an immortal sandworm-human-god hybrid mostly musing in the dark to himself about politics, history, economics, ecology, religion, biology, and war.

I just watched Guns Akimbo the other day. A wonderful ride, if you're a fan of schlocky, over the top, high octane action movies (which I am). It's basically in the same spirit as Crank, except instead of Jason Statham as a hardened killer, there's Daniel Radcliffe as a pitiful loser who has an extremely bad day. The movie is definitely elevated by his performance, too. It's hard to imagine another actor who could have carried that role so well.

These days I just want movies and TV shows to let me blow off steam. I don't want to see a searing social critique like Severance, just make me laugh and/or inject escapism into my veins for 100 minutes.

It's made by the folks that did Peaky Blinders (for what that's worth, I never saw that show but know lots of folks that loved it).

As for movies, the last one I really just got completely wrapped up in and forgot about everything else while it was playing was Sisu. If you want over the top action...I think this one is right up your alley. It really was a pretty bonkers film.

It's made by the folks that did Peaky Blinders (for what that's worth, I never saw that show but know lots of folks that loved it).

My cousin is turning 11 this weekend and he's big into old school video games. So my uncle bought him a PS1, but the system he bought online came with a gigantic stack of lameass games -- Wheel of Fortune, Stuart Little, Elmo's Number Adventure, some generic unbranded bowling game, etc.

So I went and dug through my own collection from my childhood and came up with Crash Bandicoot, Tony Hawk's Pro Skater, Spyro the Dragon, Tomb Raider, Resident Evil, Tekken 3, and Jet Moto for him.

I was naming specifically little kids' games. But come to think of it, I could rattle off way too many PS1 and PS2 games I used to play.

Why is it nice to think of a bunch of 25-year-old video games that are probably mostly bad now and that I don't have anymore?

Yeah... for younger ones, I think I'd recommend Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee, Castlevavnia: Symphony of the Night and Army Men: Sarge's Heroes. I'm running into memory issues and can't remember if Ratchet and Clank and Jax & Daxter hit the PS1 or PS2. But any of these would be more age appropriate but still extremely fun titles too.

Folks, please reconsider ever telling your boss a hard truth. I did and after 3 months of investigation, they still haven't made a decision on anything but I am being accused of creating a hostile work environment.

What is actually happening is that I'm potentially about to be fired for saying, "What the f***?" during a meeting with my boss.

This is apparently not a valid question and even asking it is grounds for termination.

I'm just getting really f***ing tired. 5 years of fighting stage IV cancer, the University cut my hours down to 20 per week because I'm not union and have to take chemo one day every other week. Then to completely bust my nuts for following GAP and being incredulous when someone suggest something that doesn't comply on top of all this, is just a bridge too far.
