It's been all of them. Our PP has inflated Zibs, Fox and Panarin when they weren't playing well
For years we were hoping for a good PP, we finally get one and all we talk about is how it shouldn't count or something.

No, it's all literally the same company.right, but if I got 75 Rangers games on ESPN+ I would cancel their cable, keep their internet and they lose about $100 a month
No. It's that it's not really conducive to how they've been playing 5v5.For years we were hoping for a good PP, we finally get one and all we talk about is how it shouldn't count or something.
This is more than a bit misleading.
It's "team" not "teams" and that team is Vegas.
Like, yeah, Vegas have won more series in the last four years than any team but Tampa. If they get in and start with that clean slate, they're instantly one of the contenders.
First round is still MSG, however ESPN could probably decide to take a game or two. I believe ESPN has the rights to half of all first round games, however I’m not sure what percentage of that are exclusive rights.Speaking of streaming, are our playoffs games going to be on MSG or ESPN+ or something else?
As far as I know they use expected goals and shot metrics for the whole season, which...you know how those look. They also have like 50% chance of making the playoffs and that should be factored in the calculation. We have 4 more points tan the Penguins, so we are in the driver's seat for home ice in the first round and the Pens have a 70%+ chance of winning in the first round. How are they determining odds? Fancy stats?
We should be set for the 1st round all games on MSG unless it is a nationally televised game on ABC or TNT/TBS. Usually those are the weekend games.Speaking of streaming, are our playoffs games going to be on MSG or ESPN+ or something else?
Same reason 8 seeds beat 1 seeds, or take them far in the series regularly. Once you get to playoffs, teams are very closely matched, lack of pentalties muck up the play, and skill actually is less of a factor than normally, especially compared to other sports. It’s really a coin toss sometimes, so home or away makes no difference. There was a study that was quoted on fivethirtyeight.com (A Home Playoff Game Is A Big Advantage — Unless You Play Hockey), but they found that home ice actually had very little effect in the NHL playoffs as a whole. I think part of it is the format the teams play (2-2-1-1-1) and part of it is that due to the relatively low scoring in hockey, that luck and skill can play a greater factor in overcoming any slight advantages
Don’t be pissed, just use it to get rich! They also have like 50% chance of making the playoffs and that should be factored in the calculation. This sadly. No, it's all literally the same company.
ESPN is owned by Disney. Hulu is owned by Disney. ABC is owned by Disney. Probably 75% of nationally televised sporting events you've ever watched are owned by Disney (and like, 95% of movies).
They have a contract with Verizon worth many billions of dollars to offer that content so you're getting it even if you cancel the cable, and Verizon is getting paid to offer it as part of their internet package. The other telecom company (and by that I mean THE other one) AT&T is in talks to secure a contract with *checks notes* Disney.
You don't actually have a choice and neither does anybody else because Walt Disney Incorporated basically owns most of entertainment.
The Rangers are unique in that they have their "own" network but it's only a matter of time before we get the MSG streaming service or a partnership with an existing service because that's the way it's going.
By the time Lafreniere's career is over, "tv" will be a relic of the past.

The Rangers are unique in the sense that they're not under the local Fox banner which most teams are.How is MSG unique here? Disney doesn’t own RSNs.
Disney was forced to sell the Fox Sports RSNs once they bought it in the Fox Entertainment deal.
The MLB is in discussions with different leagues to create region-specific streaming services to finally end blackouts. So in NY, we can hypothetically have all the teams here in one package. The Rangers are unique in the sense that they're not under the local Fox banner which most teams are.
And those teams will end up on a Fox-affiliated streaming service.
That's the way it's going and the cable companies are very much here for it. People used to say the newspapers would go out of business. They all just adapted to the new format.
To add: Panarin is playing in his 500th NHL game tonight, 177 of which have been with the Rangers. In those 177 games he has 237 points. That's 1.34 points per game or 110 pace per 82.It’s a shame that he didn’t get the opportunity to crack 100pts either of the last two shortened seasons, makes his career stats look so much less impressive through no fault of his own having his two absolute peak seasons those two years. He came so close (95pts) in only 69 games, that’s a 113pt pace. Then last year paced for 113 as well lol. This year he’s on pace for exactly 100. But as of late he’s producing at a much higher rate, he needs 16pts in 11 games to pull it off. Definitely possible.

Panarin has been our best player since he joined the team and has been our best skater since Jagr. Zibanejad had paced for 59 goals, Kreider is on pace for 54, Fox has a Norris, and Igor may win the Vezina, but Panarin, I think is above our other stars in terms of his skill. He is so good at stick handling and protecting the puck, making perfect passes and shots. I think we all forget how good he is sometimes and expect a perfect game from him every night. The simple things this guy does just amaze me all the time. Here's to 500 more games.
I love this highlight video about him even if the music is annoying.
But you get free streaming of the RSNs with a Gym MembershipThe MLB is in discussions with different leagues to create region-specific streaming services to finally end blackouts. So in NY, we can hypothetically have all the teams here in one package.
The MLB notably created MLB.tv and the underlying software for it under their MLB Advanced Media brand, which has since been sold to, you guessed it, Disney.
Also note that Fox Sports RSNs no longer exist and are now Bally Sports. So it has nothing to do with Fox or Disney.
You're really going out on a limb there.Prediction: The Pens get several calls and non calls in their favor tonight
