Even if we win the division we're not going to get the Caps, because Florida is going to almost certainly take the conference, so the Caps are going to end up in the Atlantic side of the bracket.

Rangers have a legit chance at winning the Metro division. Carolina has lost some steam and the Rangers have been playing very well as of late.

There's been some discussion on Twitter about whether winning the division is a good thing. As #1 seed in the Metro, they'd likely play Tampa or Boston (who have been battling it out for the first wild card/3rd seed in the Atlantic), versus a 2nd/3rd seed in the Metro which would see them face Pittsburgh. It's also possible, though less likely that they could face Toronto in the Atlantic.

The thought is, that facing either Boston or Tampa would be harder than facing Pittsburgh. Think they'll all be potentially difficult to be honest, so not sure it matters, but it's at least being talked about.

Well, the soonest the Rangers can clinch is tomorrow, assuming they win tonight, and the Isles lose tomorrow against Carolina. Next opportunity would be Saturday when both teams play again (NYR v OTT and NYI at STL)

Rangers need 4 points to be certain (Rangers wins+Isles Losses) though they could get through with 3 points if they win tonight, and the Isles lose in any fashion tomorrow.
