There's been some discussion on Twitter about whether winning the division is a good thing. As #1 seed in the Metro, they'd likely play Tampa or Boston (who have been battling it out for the first wild card/3rd seed in the Atlantic), versus a 2nd/3rd seed in the Metro which would see them face Pittsburgh. It's also possible, though less likely that they could face Toronto in the Atlantic.

The thought is, that facing either Boston or Tampa would be harder than facing Pittsburgh. Think they'll all be potentially difficult to be honest, so not sure it matters, but it's at least being talked about.
Remember, home ice advantage means the opposing team must select their line first before faceoffs. And for this group who's faceoffs are an Achille's heel, it could be huge to have that extra edge if a series goes to 7 games.

I'd rather have that advantage in every game 7 down the stretch than play a weaker opponent in the first round.

Massive dilemma between watching this or the Mets season opener

Huge game for the Rangers and I’ve been counting down to baseball for a while

I watch hockey virtually exclusively. I’ll watch football occasionally. I’ll go to pretty much any sporting event, baseball games are fun days out, but I won’t even turn my TV on for much besides hockey. Select shows on streaming, literally zero live TV besides hockey. I played baseball, soccer, football, lacrosse and hockey until like 6th grade then played only hockey and lacrosse, but I just find watching anything but hockey or football boring, and football sparingly. I’ll watch college, CHL or AHL over 99% of non-NHL sporting events.

It’s hilarious moneypuck still has us with worse Stanley cup odds than teams who aren’t even in the playoffs lol
This is more than a bit misleading.

It's "team" not "teams" and that team is Vegas.

Like, yeah, Vegas have won more series in the last four years than any team but Tampa. If they get in and start with that clean slate, they're instantly one of the contenders.

Sorry. I had a brain cramp and forgot that WC2 goes to the conference winner.
I figure if the playoffs started today the match ups would be as best we could wish for . We get the Penguins 5 games ....Cats plays the Caps in a physical series & Wilson take a pound of flesh out of Cats in 6 . Bruins face Leaf...a 7 gamer and Canes and TB pound one another in 7 games......it works in our benefit if we get it done quick and healthy . There will be some banged up opponents for round two.

Couple out West look like fun too....Calgary and Nashville...that will be FIERCE !!! . Minny & St Louis ....another battle .

The same cable companies whose internet you have to use to stream?

but everyone is already for paying for internet anyway. the only reason I still have cable is to watch the Rangers games. they will hold onto live local sports for grim death.

It's the same company
His point is Hulu gets the extra $ if they're the ones streaming 95% of the games. Yes, we still pay the internet/cable company, but they now lose out on the extra cash that Hulu is getting. Unless the cable companies start to offer their own subscription streaming services to carry live sports on (they might already, I don't deal with any of this crap so not up to date on latest streaming services of which there a million now).

I actually got the triple package for Free through Verizon . Includes Disney, Hulu, and ESPN+. Normally is 12.99/month.

If you have Verizon give them a call may be able to upgrade for free.

ESPN+ with NordVPN’s SmartDNS = in market games

Going to test it out for MLB.tv tonight with the Mets, assuming it’s not simulcast as a national game.

There was a study that was quoted on fivethirtyeight.com (A Home Playoff Game Is A Big Advantage — Unless You Play Hockey), but they found that home ice actually had very little effect in the NHL playoffs as a whole. I think part of it is the format the teams play (2-2-1-1-1) and part of it is that due to the relatively low scoring in hockey, that luck and skill can play a greater factor in overcoming any slight advantages
