Oh yeah. Met the screaming man

Desharnais was getting Cagnoni killed. He does not support the puck and many times Desharnais just held the puck a long the boards and got pinched by two Leafs. Not helping your partner in any regard killing plays like that. Cagnoni wasn't great but this is another scenario where scorecards don't tell an entire story.

Did Desharnais tell Cagnoni to chase OEL to the boards and leave Laughton wide open for a one-timer from the middle of the offensive zone?

Well if he did, he probably couldn't hear due to the height difference.

Look man, I respect the need for attention on your unabashed hatred towards small players. I wish I could nitpick the way that you do and generalize it to an entire opinion that a hockey player will or will not be successful based on that one play. Especially, a rookie. Really riveting stuff.

I know Ostapchuk and Giles aren’t anything special but how nice is it not having Luke Kunin out there?
"He really flies around out there" - CBJ brain trust.

But seriously... I've been pleasantly surprised with Giles, Chucky hasn't shown much yet but today was his best game. At least they are both big and athletic. But Kunin did have underrated ability to get into scoring position and grind out a few goals. These guys aren't giving off "15 goals a season" energy. However, yes, nice to move on to the next whipping boy.

I randomly came across this video on the NHL twitter feed. Many things wrong with this play from what I can tell.
  1. Cagnoni should have released OEL as he was going back up to the point
  2. Grundstrom got caught watching the puck on the strong side and should have covered the passing lane towards Laughton once Cagnoni pressured up the wall.
  3. Wennberg was in the middle of the slot in no mans land. Another leafs player was wide open on the weak side for a cross-ice feed.
  4. Goodrow did a great job screening Georgiev in front.
Ugly all-around TBH.

Unfortunately, it interfered with a few people's "Every bad thing that happens is ultimately Desharnais' fault" jihad, so although his giveaway was bad, there were lots of other things that happened afterward that were equally bad.

I think on the one goal where Desharnais swung and missed the puck that Kneis stick lifted him as he went for it, which is why he looked so comically bad on that play.

Desharnais is one of the worst hockey players I have ever watched play in the NHL. I get the idea that big = good and we are thin on RD, but holy cow he cannot figure out how to play with the puck in his own zone. Not claiming Fabbro might be the biggest mistake Grier has made so far. (Unless he is legit trying to tank)

Negativity aside, that was one of the most entertaining games of hockey I have watched all season. You can see how good this Sharks team could be if a few of the younger prospects hit and they figured out the blue line.

Lund looked like he belongs, Mukh continues to amaze me after his awful start, Wennberg is silky smooth, Graf is legit, and Macklin/Smith/Ecklund continue to get so close to blowing the doors off some of these games. I love what is being built here, and I really hope management has the patience to finish the rebuild properly. Games like this show how close we could be to a playoff team in the next couple years, but this group is still so far away from competing with the SC contending teams. Please do not rush this.

I do feel bad for my Leafs fan friends. There is zero chance that team wins a cup and I genuinely don’t know what you can do to fix it.

I am going to have to sit with this one for a while. lol

They were brutal to couture on the tonight show

Thank goodness the Archive has the Croatian recording NBC took down:
