Devils discussion (news, notes and speculation) - part VI

I’m going to say it again and excuse me if someone else has said it recently,
But if you’re not paying the $6.66 for Devils Insiders you are robbing yourself of the very best Devils discussion and commentary available to us.
I understand even a dollar might be a deterrent for some, but if you can swing it. It is 10000% worth it.

I'm guessing they must have wildly controversial opinions on the core members of this team?! :sarcasm:

He is an RFA so he technically has 2 remaining years of control.
I was aware. Yes and no regarding 2 years of "control". Sure, he can't just walk, so in that sense Devs have control for 2 years. On the otherhand, he's playing on an incredibly cheap contract so if you factor in the cap jump/inflation, prime years, and hopeful production (to point Devs would want to keep him), he would see a $2m+ increase. Devs or any team need to be able to afford it or control is just an illusion.

This is like an EDM fan saying they had control over Broberg and Holloway, no worries. How'd that go? Because of cap, they didn't really have control. And yea, I'm aware it's commonly accepted to view RFA+1 as team controlled...but the context matters (mainly cap situation).

It’s definitely worth it. I thoroughly enjoy their podcast. Ironically enough I started listening to them cause I had a long period of time where I was working way too much and I didn’t have the time to read HF as much. Now that I work from home and have a better job, by doing less lol, I can enjoy both their podcast and all of you characters.

I wouldn't even listen for free, not enough time in the day as it is lol

Good example using the two successful offer sheets in the last two decades to make your point. There's no reason to define team control in any way other than how NJDFan86 defined it. Yes, Cotter could be non-tendered, and in fact there's a not unreasonable chance of it given how his goal scoring would make an arbitration award much higher than his overall game would merit. But the team gets to make that choice. Edmonton still had the choice to not retain Holloway and Broberg - they chose to let them go.

Gotta give credit to Alex for doing the listening.

Can you watch games back on demand?

You can do this easily. All you need is a 4k firestick, 4kliveiptv (streaming service), tivimate (for channel guide and recording), and an OTG cable for the firestick. Search for "Record TiviMate TV programs on Firestick with external storage" on youtube for instructions on setting up recording

Recommended that you pick up at least 256GB USB flash or even better go with a USB 3.1 SSD drive with 1TB.

If you get the 4k firestick on sale the total setup will be less than $100 and run you $11 a month for tv and about $5 for VPN. Setup time is about 2 hours but mostly because you need to download a bunch of stuff onto the firestick.

Do you always get the MSG broadcasts or do you not have a choice in terms of which broadcast team has the game?

It has every NHL game, both home and away broadcasts through NHL TV.

It also comes with every other league out there. Want to watch Grits in the KHL playoffs? You can.

To playback recordings, all you need to do is download VLC media player to your firestick and give it access to the folder with the recordings.
