I just realized it's only the second period. I thought I was watching a team quit late in the third. Absolutely lifeless.

This whole year has been something else to watch considering how many times they came back last year with essentially the same core. It's head scratching. All year.

They are trying to sign him but he won't sign. Strong belief is that his decision will be impacted by the leads playoff run. If they lose early again he's probably moving on, no reason to keep being blamed for the issues there. If they are successful in the playoffs he will probably sign, and a good run will help him get even more money from the leafs while the Canadian dollar continues to tank...

The last two games are story of Shesterkin's career. Superhuman to garbage. Game to game he plays like a completely different goalie.

My key problem with Igor is this - the difference between his best and worst. When he's ON he's Vezina level but when he's OFF you may as well bungee Milhouse across the pipes. He's not worth the contract and I will freely admit I was a big fan of his before but the evidence this season has been stark. Like Mika, unfortunately, we are stuck with him.

Their effort overall has been ~ok with occasional bursts of real, actual hard work.... but they have egregious mistakes, turnovers, fall over, etc. with SO much more regularity than any of their opponents its hard to imagine this isn't some kind of sitcom with the Rangers as the hapless losers.

We are great at finding ways to lose. Stellar goaltending with limpest skater performance of the decade. Even match but goalie can’t make a clutch save. Competitive game with great looks but can’t bury a shot. The loser identity is engrained into the team. It’s like giving a hobo $100, they’ll blow it in 2h30m including commercial time.

We can't get ONE Ranger to put a body or stick on the guys that have scored goals. We're letting guys walk into the slot from the blueline, but somehow the team is playing better.
