Graves in 99-00 looked so much worse than Kreids looks right now. And Graves was one of my favorite players at the time. We were just a more patient fanbase and weren't so reactionary.

It goes both ways. 8 months ago, fans were calling for Kreids number to be retired...

I think its more about the character of the player than the stats. Graves earned his hall pass to look washed those last few years. He sacrificed his body and soul for the organization and was rewarded with a Stanley Cup, a jersey in the rafters, and one of the most beloved players in team history. He was always involved in charity and helping the kids since his 1st season.

I don't want to crap on Kreider, but lets just say he doesn't have the same slack or credentials. And as another poster mentioned, Graves never quit on his coaches, teammates, or especially the fans.
