Pens and Flyers would be a better match-up for the ratings on national TV in round two based off their recent playoff history, and yes it even trumps "Rangers big hockey market." So the Rangers better show up and be on their best behavior.

this series is over, we will choke tonight, this team just does not have what it takes to win....henrik is overated and not a playoff competitor...richter was the best goalie this franchise ever had. if henrik was in net for game 6 vs the devils in 1994 we would of lost that game 6-3...henrik can beat the all the crappy teams but when it comes crunch time he chokes. have a good summer everybody

LOL! Someone needs to step away from the ledge.

Yes, let's nitpick a hypothetical situation.

I'm basing it off the fact that losing our 2014 1st round pick will mean, and only mean, that we have made the Eastern Conference Finals.

My hypothetical was built off the assumption that in this false world, losing that 1st round pick would grant us access to the ECF built off the previous assumption in paragraph 2 of this post.

How anyone can be upset after making the ECF because we lose a 1st round pick is beyond me. Even if we lose that series.

OH MY GOD, THERE GOES THE 27TH OVERALL PICK IN THE DRAFT! What in heavens will we ever doooooooooooo. Let's forget the fact that we were four (probably less if we're in the series) wins away from the SCF.

my problem lies more in the fact that the system is shallow and we will have had no first round picks in 2013-2014-2015

And potentially ONE ECF showing.

that grinds my gears.

Dont post when we win

I'm envious of the Flyers having a guy like Simmonds to come out and grab a game by the throat.

When was the last time a Ranger did what Simmonds did last night?

I can't stand the guy in a Flyer sweater but if he was a Ranger, I'd have his sweater.

They'll go to their offseason quietly, like the docile sheep they are.

Those were 3 garbage gimme goals that even Rick Nash could score

Losing a late first rounder is the least of my concerns.

And that's part of the reason why the Rangers window's of opportunity open and close faster than the average bear.

We have no generational talents to lean on to carry us through those periods of when we trade 1st rounders. Lundqvist is a top 3 goalie, he's no generational talent.

Pissing away opportunities to grab one of the 30 best prospects available for three straight seasons is a fools way of running a franchise.

pathetic franchise is pathetic.

Dan Carcillo has a total of just under 19 minutes of playing time in 2 games.

Nash has a total of 109.20 minutes of playing time in 6 games.

Why does Dan ****ING Carcillo have more goals?

So since we have no generational talents you are hoping that marginal talents like JT Miller types will be the ones to carry us into the promised land in 8 years from now? Give me a break. This team has much bigger problems than a player drafted in the late 1st who is more likely than not to never play an NHL game.

Why exactly arent we playing Carcillo btw ? I honestly dont think he has been bad at all, and Miller is clearly not ready

If we do not have the generational talent, then I would much rather have a pool of prospects selected in the 1st round that could develope and continue to feed the system over the years than piss away opportunities to grab prime prospects that can feed the system.

We traded a 1st in 2013 for Nash. Nash has done NOTHING for the Rangers in the PO's.

We traded a 1st in 2015 for St. Louis. He's having a very solid post season for us, but by the looks of things (from my POV only) it's going to be one and done for this team.

Whe you have a system as shallow as the Rangers, trading away 1st rounders is never a bright idea. Trading away (potentially) three in a row is completely stupid.

However, this conversation is probably a waste of both your and my time as I have no faith that we will win tonight which means we keep out 1st this year.

In what world are we drafting a "generational talent" in the mid-to-late first round?

I'll say again, I'd rather be in the ECF every year and forfeit my 27th-30th overall pick that summer.

(Disclaimer: This is all built off a bull**** hypothetical universe that I have built on page 2. Please do not read anything more into this post).

Touche. It could be a long, long summer.

Based on what? Being one of the only players to help them get on the scoresheet last night? Maybe because McShoulder threw him a god awful pass in front of his own net?

No one was saying this at the end of game 5.

I never said that we would or could draft a generational talent mid round.

What I said was that we do not have one to lean on that would allow us the ability to piss away 1st rounders in the manner in which we do.

As for the Hypo-world you have created, Stan Lee would be proud.

If we were guaranteed spot in the ECF every year in lieu of our 1st, I would sign up as well. But alas, we do not reside in that Hypo-World you have constructed.

Ah, but you see, when fans say things like "The worst thing that can happen is if we make the ECF and lose because we lose our first round pick", it kind of does seem that we do live in that world.
