I don't think he likes it here, there's a reason he signed for 5 yrs
Crosby signed a short contract too. Financially it's the smart move. You don't lock yourself in to a market that may still be growing. To make the most money possible while you're in the league, it's smartest to get a shiny new contract at age 26 than to be searching for one while you're approaching 30. Has nothing to do with desire to be somewhere. Has everything to do with milking the cash cow while you can

Matthews will be long gone from Toronto by 2030. He's not going to resign in Toronto, he's going to Vegas or Cali.
I wish I could say I disagree. But Ive always thought if this team doesn’t have deep playoff success Mathews will sign with whatever strongest Cali team, Vegas or even Dallas. I know he has been bad this series but I think he would stay if the Leafs were a true contender. I think he goes to the best team possible close to home.

Matthews loves it here, it’s pretty clear as day. Nothing but positive about Toronto. Just win tomorrow boys, ends all this silliness. Carey Price has been unbelievable and this is an entire different conversation if Price hadn’t shown up this series.

I agree with what everyone is saying, such a disappointment :(

but in the back of my head i keep dreaming and remembering one line.

“it's always darkest before the dawn”

only thing that keeps me sane.

Changing the coach just enforces to the kids it's not their fault. That they can do no wrong. We need a personel shake up.

They need to come out and battle for every puck like their career depends on it. They need to get picks on net and fight to the dirty areas. Some low chance dangle and an attempt to snipe from the perimeter with Price seeing it all the way is not gonna work.

They'll as they continue to try and outdo themselves with each new embarrassment.

The nice thing is, I put some money on Montreal to win and they had some nice odds.

For the off chance Toronto wins, well that's enjoyable and worth the loss cash.

Lets just say, this game will change this team dramatically. Either we win and they stay, or they will be demolished in the off season.

Define demolished? because I don't see Matthews getting trade, nor should he, same with Marner, Tavares has a NMC, Nylander is actually producing, so who?

For me and am sure for some other Leafs fans this game 7 is probably going to be a WIN-WIN scenario.

We win game 7; great! I don't have to listen to the garbage from my habs fans colleagues

We lost game 7; hopefully Dubas is FIRED!!! And we get a GM that has a foresight and knowledge about what it takes to win in the playoffs and not eff up the cap so much that you cannot even add quality depth because no cap left
Except its not really our depth that is letting us down. Thats why M&M are getting roasted in here. If they do half what what they are paid to do, we are not having these conversations about blowing the team up etc.

For what its worth, I think that if we lose, I do believe that Dubas will shake it up. He keeps adding pretty good pieces and he has shown he is willing to adapt and evolve his philosophy. I also think a healthy Tavares and Foligno and Hyman would have made a big difference. Not to let the dynamic duo off the hook. They have not delivered and that just can't happen if you want to move ahead in the playoffs. Your best players have to show up.

The lineup I would ice in game seven:

Thoughts?

Galchenyuk-Matthews-Marner
Hyman--Spezza-Nylander
Mikheyev-Foligno-Kerfoot
Engvall-Brooks-Simmonds

Reilly-Muzzin(presuming he plays)
Holl-Sandin
Bogosian-Brodie

Campbell
Why are reinventing the wheel? Our 3 best lines when put together were 34-71-16 12-15-88 11-65-47 77-19-97 swap out 97 for 24. We know those lines worked and I am not sure why we aren't using them.

These are probably the only lines I've actually liked and think are somewhat feasible for Game 7

Can anybody tell me why #34 suddenly can't hit the net at all? And when he does, it's right into Price's chest? Where the hell did the release and the accuracy that won him the Rocket and had him on pace for 60 goals in the regular season, go?
Everything is faster tighter and more intense in the playoffs. I was a damn good triple A hockey player who played somes games in jr and I just couldn't make the adjustment. It was a different level. I could skate with anyone but my brain couldn't catch up to the level of play. The playoffs seem to be like that for M&M at the moment. Matthews is working his tail off and playing very responsible but his and Marners offense hasn't looked the same. Maybe they figure it out maybe they don't.

No, but WN did that exact thing in a previous game in this series.......
Marner has done that 5 f***ing times. And oh btw is mitch had the same amount of points as willy this series would have been over. So no. Mitch is the p***y.

Habs fan here. Your team is much, much better than ours. The only reason this is 3-3 is Price. Price did the same thing to Pittsburgh last year, and also gave Philly a big scare. Losing JT is also a huge factor in this series. It reminds me of when we lost Koivu in 2006 after leading 2-0 against Carolina, and then we lost 4 straight games after that.

I think you easily win tomorrow, and starting Tuesday, you will all feel much better and forget about all this nonsense. If you win, I will be rooting for you the rest of the way.

Honestly, I get everyone is pissed but matthews has been really solid for most of the series. Was our best player for the first couple of games. Also our best player against columbus last year and again with bruins and again with capitals. He is not a playoff choker.

Nylander has been bad in the playoffs except for this year and capitals. So he has been bad for like 4 years straight until this year.

Marner on the other hand. He hasnt had a single great series. Been bad for pretty much every single playoff series.

In my eyes, marner is the playoff choker. Nylander is getting by only because of this year. Matthews has been our best playoff player on this team overall
I like that Matthews is becoming more physical and defensively aware but at the end of the day he needs to score. 1 goal in 6 games does not make him our best playoff performer.
