Was Keefe stupid to challenge for goaltender interference? I find that they are so inconsistent that I don't know what is or isn't interference, was this called correctly and was Keefe wrong?
You’re right, the league is so inconsistent it wasn’t a terrible call and the habs PP is so brutal you take that chance. Marner’s brain dead penalty buried Keefe.

I think the challenge was the right call, it was a toss up call for me, not egregious goaltender interference but plenty of goals have been called back for less.

Not to mention the Habs PP has been brutal and we kill off that penalty 95% of the time anyway.. cant predict Marner would calmly and casually flip the puck into the stands.

The best team doesn't always win in the playoffs . . .
The best team won last night.

The Habs were like the student who came to class on-time, studied hard, did the readings and all the homework, and worked through all the hard problems right through to the end of the final exam.

The Leafs were like the student who showed up late, goofed off during class, and never worried about their homework until the minute after the last minute when they crammed like crazy only to find it really was too late.

You don't set yourself up for success by playing the way the Leafs did last night.

Jason Spezza gets that. So does T.J. Brodie. After that, I would have an easier time listing the players that still don't get it than those that do.

Until this whole team grows some balls it's going to accomplish nothing.

You guys put all the blame on Marner and Matthews, but like I said in another thread they are playing against Danault. McKinnon once said Danault is the toughest player he ever played against. Neutralizing the best players is his specialty...

At home the leaf will have the last change, they will probably play better since Danault won't always be in their path.

This is why Nylander is getting all the points, his line is not up against Danault...

I’m still mind blown by the lack of adjustments by Keefe and the ones he made (breaking up our best line?????) have been equally as mind blowing.

At this point, I’d roll with;

Galch - Kerfoot - Nylander
Hyman - Matthews - Spezza
Mikheyev - Foligno - Marner
Engvall - Brooks - Simmonds

Sorry to Joe.

How did they play at home in Games 1, 2 and 5?

Campbell was already way way out of his crease, it was almost as stupid as Montreal’s challenge earlier and that’s saying something. The coach himself said he wasn’t optimistic so why risk it on a 1-0 score? Brutal call and it was 1000 percent going to fail, I was literally laughing that any hockey mind thought that was coming back. Anything is possible, but the timing and chances of it working, major unforced error and he rightfully owns it.

Thats good with me.

If this is the last game of the year, I woild rather see Brooks over Thormton.

One is on the way in, and one is on the way out.

Yeah what’s his deal? Is he too good to hit now?
Not that I can blame him.
You don’t think that him and Foligno know they are the only two players that will go to war for the rest of that marshmallow soft squad.
Who would have their backs?
Come playoff time, each and every player on the roster needs to elevate their physicality and finish their checks. Our roster still does not understand how to win playoff games.

I was probably one of the most excited to sign Thornton. I really enjoyed his first part of the season.

However he’s done, and frankly, I’d rather give us the best chance to advance, than continue a cute fairytale and lose.

I've seen the Leafs do some comically bad things over the years in terms of finding new ways to lose, but this post-season is the icing on the cake for me.

Up 3 games to 1, limited Montreal to 4 goals in 4 games. It was pretty much the way you could've scripted it considering Montreal is essentially an AHL team with a past his prime goaltender.

Leave it to Toronto to find new and exciting ways to disappoint their fans time and time again. Montreal dominated Toronto in most of game 5. Toronto gets some lucky goals to catch back up to tie it up. Then a minute into OT, Toronto finds a way to give Montreal a 2 on 0 to finish the game up.

Game 6, Toronto gets dominated the entire game, but gets a lucky fluke goal to tie it up. Leafs play well for the first time all game, dominates Montreal in OT then the first giveaway by Dermott ends up in the back of our net. Comically slapstick god awful is this team in the post-season.

Matthews seemingly scored every game in the regular season. Now that the games mean something, he's shooting at a career worst.

Marner continues to choke and be awful in the playoffs. It's not just this year, but many of the past number of seasons he's been invisible. Last night he was instrumental in sealing the victory for Montreal with that stupid selfish penalty he took. He wasn't even pressured when he threw the puck over the glass. He was just embarrassingly bad as usual.

Jason Spezza has more goals than our first line COMBINED. This core group can't get the job done.

Even if hey somehow win game 7, Winnipeg will expose them ten times worse than a bottom feeding 24-21-11 team such as Montreal.

Imagine Boston or Tampa getting dominated by Montreal, yeah, doesn't seem realistic, does it? I thought the same thing about Toronto... they find new ways to choke year in and year out.

If Andersen was in net this series would've been over in 5 games for Montreal.

Changes HAVE to be made to the core group. Marner is never going to be a big contributor when the games matter most. He's had half a decade to prove it... he can't.

So disappointed in this team.

I mean, I agree that it was likely to count (i would have said good goal) but given what we've seen over the course of the years with interference reviews I think the chances of it coming back were greater than the chances of the Habs scoring on the resulting PP for a failed challenge.

Marner clears the puck like a normal person instead of screwing around with a little flip/lob and it doesn't even matter we lose the challenge.

Sorry to Joe.

I like Kerfy back with Willy/Gally there. They seemed like they had chemistry and Kerfoots impressed me this series.

Thorntons gotta be benched. At this point I'm just relieved if he doesn't give the puck away.

Oh the mighty Phil Danault is it? The guy that Matthews torched how many times during the regular season?

I am trying to understand how these players can justify showing up to last 2 games looking completely uninterested.

In my eyes the management gave them all the tools to succeed. And then you look at teams like NYI and BOS that have half the talent we do and they play like they are possessed.

He didn’t know your last paragraph so that’s irrelevant to his decision, and the chances were zero and I was embarrassed he actually called a challenge. So the best we can do is say we might hit the lottery? I expect good decisions, this one was brutal.

I've disabled all the notifications for the Leafs on all the apps I have on my phone and won't be watching the game. I will check the scores next day.
