It doesn’t seem to matter. They’ve felt their way into every series even if they end the season on a tear.

Last playoffs was the only playoffs of consequence in the McDrai era where they actually won some game 1s, IIRC

But yeah, momentum doesn't carry over between series (team cohesion, etc can of course)

Dude where does this conspiracy stuff come from still. We all know what happened to Souray but that was eons ago and alot of PR and HR has happened since then.

Both McD and Kane got to handle their own injuries. Ekholm gots lots of time off for a flu

Drai was on the bench talking to the trainer then still played. That was 100% his decision...not some evil trainer forcing back onto the ice

Day to day will quit literally be...day to day.. No blackhat decisions involved
no conspiracy stuff, just trauma.

for the teams sake I hope you're right, I just want all our guys healthy going into the playoffs considering we'll be in a full blown war if we even have the slightest chance to win against these other western juggernauts

Yeah, the Game 1 situation is frustrating. That said, they've scored a shit ton of goals in a lot of those Game 1s (especially over the last 3 years) and still ended up losing most of them. 42 goals scored in 11 game 1s over the last 5 playoffs but only 2 wins.

Sure its frustrating but Skinners numbers are good in games 4-7 ya know.

No Drat. We are f***ed!!!!111!!!1

I wonder if the Poogent-Slopkins line will get broken up. Can you imagine how heinous that "2nd" line is going to be?

This will be up to Shitnner to finally show up against a top team and win this game, but basically we are f***ed, ggs.

Not all of that was on Skinner. Smith was the starting goalie in 5 of those 11 game 1s and he allowed 26 goals in those 5 games, which makes Skinner's 22 goals against in 6 games almost look respectable.

All that said, if there's a time for a goalie to be his best, Games 4-7 would be the preference.

This game does have "shutout" written all over it but we did manage to score 7 goals without Draisaitl's involvement last game.

Vancouver also lit up Hellybuyck the other day so maybe he is rounding into his playoff form.

Jets might come in sleep walking assuming an easy win. I say Walman scores his first goal as an Oiler.

While he didn't end up on the score sheet Leon's 22 minutes sure helped the team overall. Running the lines the way we did was too much for Utah. Take Leon out and now you aren't forcing the oppositions depth to play a perfect game.

Maybe I'm alone, but I kinda want to see what this forward group can do with out Leon. Kinda like with Ekholm out wanted to see who can step up.

There are a lot of players that are fighting for spots throughout the forward group with Frederic and Kane coming back. Really want to see guys make Knoblauch's job hard trying to figure out who should be sitting come playoffs. As well as making it one of those things where on here all we are saying is "thank god I'm not the coach trying to figure out who should sit once this club is healthy".

It's time for players to start taking that next step and pushing for extra time

all the guys sitting around 36/37 goals going to be firing on full cylinders now
That shouldn't be an issue unless he misses most of the rest of the regular season.

However, I'd say 60 is definitely out of the question now. As well as the Art Ross and likely the Hart/Lindsay.

I don't think the Jets as a whole get mentally mind f***ed that easily.

They seem to play a pretty consistent game overall. Helly on the other hand is the guy that has the sleep walking issue lol

Depends how big of a lens you view this from. They've done a decent job of it this year, but wasn't the fact they go into coast mode part of the reason Maurice walked away, and lots of those players are still there.

But even looking at this year, there's a little evidence of it, but their hot runs have extended so long that it doesn't matter. Their season to date:

Games 1-16 - 15-1 record
Games 17-43 - 13-11-3 record
Games 44-59 - 14-2 record
Games 60-69 - 5-4-1 record.

That's not to suggest those records outside the two hot streaks are terrible, but make no mistake this season is about two amazing 16 game stretches by Winnipeg and treading water outside of those.

Overall like many good teams they seem to be really be a team that builds off wins. 12-7-2 after a loss (a great record for sure) but 34-11-2 after a win (legendary).

Edmonton's does a bit similar but to a lesser extent and bit more susceptible to a losing streak. 15-12-1 after a loss, but 25-11-3 after a win.

Looking at odds in both scenarios, I'd rather face Winnipeg with them coming off a loss and Edmonton a win than any other scenario.

Yeah I can't believe that *I* am about to be the voice of reason in a thread about injury news, but here we are. He played the rest of the game and had good jump in his step when he played. Likely tweaked something and will be out a few games. It does not appear to be serious.
