Canes are on a roll lately winning 7 straight and not allowing more than 2 goals in any of those games. At least it will be fun to see how Cagnoni looks in his first NHL game and hopefully he is able to make the PP look more dangerous. Crunch time as we are only 4 points ahead of Chicago with the same amount of games played!

Can't wait for Sharks hockey to return someday
I know there are reasons for it (Reinbacher's injury, CHL rules, etc), but I think it's pretty cool that Luca Cagnoni, a 4th round pick, will be the first defenseman of the 2023 NHL draft class to make his NHL debut.

Cagnoni and Romanov playing their first games against the Canes is a real “welcome to the NHL” but if there’s one thing I think I’ve learned is to not underestimate Luca Cagnoni.
Sharks lose 5-3, Cags gets 2 assists and we’re all like, damn he’s good (except @Hodge who will hate him no matter what).

I expect him to be either injured, "injured," or just waived. Maybe they buy him out to save some real money and a roster spot, but they might want his contract just to hit the cap floor at this point.
He will not technically go on LTIR (in our situation, that would be a disaster).

Nah, LTIR is for when they're needing to go over the cap due to injuries. If he's injured long term, he'll stay on IR until cap is needed like Couture is. I think I'd rather have him get healthy and buy him out in the offseason. I would much rather give his roster spot to Dickinson and/or Schaefer and just let the development fly.
If he is injured so to speak he doesn't take a roster spot and helps us to get to the cap floor
Vlasic will have an “injury” that would making buying him out impossible but he will also be “injured” enough to not block any other players.

Live look at Cagnoni-Desharnais combining height to be average
He wouldn't but this injury doesn't sound like something that will reliably keep him out of the lineup. He's been dealing with it to a degree all year and he's been available for most of this season. I don't think the team needs Vlasic's sort of help to reach the floor unless he's definitively done.
