I truly wonder how the league is going to manage to get Pittsburgh two more generation stars after Crosby and Malkin retire.

They went from Lemieux and Jagr to Crosby and Malkin.
I bet they land Michkov.

Edit: brutally misspelled it, haha

Crosby "troubatized"

I'll allow it

tbh though we do give up quite a bit of HDC.

Our breakdowns are extremely noticeable. We can be solid for the most part but our breakdowns come with A++ chances allowed. Igor still has been decent at those chances albeit not as strong as last season.

This team has shown signs of getting their shit together the last 2 games. Just need Lindgren back soon and this team is going to go on a run down the stretch when it actually matters.

They make us trade Laf and Kakko to them for 3rd round picks?

The AI overlords give us pain today:

Kaapo Kakko and Alexis Lafreniere were drafted by the New York Rangers in back-to-back years, with the Rangers selecting Kakko second overall in 2019 and Lafreniere first overall in 2020. The Rangers had high hopes for both players, but unfortunately, they never quite lived up to their full potential in New York.

The Rangers' coaching staff and management were always hesitant to fully unleash the young stars, and their development suffered as a result. They were often relegated to lower lines and limited ice time, which hindered their growth as players.

Despite this setback, Kakko and Lafreniere continued to work hard and improve their game. They were determined to prove themselves and show the Rangers what they were capable of.

However, their opportunity for redemption came unexpectedly. The Pittsburgh Penguins were in dire straits. Malkin and Crosby had both retired, and the team was struggling to find replacements for their star players. The Penguins knew they needed to make a move to fill the void left by Malkin and Crosby, and they set their sights on Kakko and Lafreniere.

The Rangers were initially reluctant to part with them, but the Penguins made them an offer they couldn't refuse. In exchange for Kakko and Lafreniere, the Penguins sent a package of draft picks and young prospects to the Rangers.

Kakko and Lafreniere arrived in Pittsburgh with a chip on their shoulder. They were determined to prove their former team wrong and show the Penguins that they were worthy of the hype that surrounded them when they were drafted.

Under the tutelage of the Penguins' coaching staff and playing alongside talented players like Jake Guentzel and Bryan Rust, Kakko and Lafreniere flourished. They quickly became fan favorites in Pittsburgh, with their dynamic play and offensive prowess earning them widespread recognition as two of the best young players in the league.

In just their first season in Pittsburgh, Kakko and Lafreniere led the Penguins to the playoffs and were instrumental in their deep playoff run. They each tallied several key goals and assists in crucial moments, and their performance helped secure the Penguins' fourth Stanley Cup in franchise history.

The Rangers watched from afar as their former prospects shone in Pittsburgh, wondering where they had gone wrong in their development. But for Kakko and Lafreniere, the past was behind them. They were now living in the present, playing for a team that believed in them and gave them the opportunity to shine.

Years later, as they looked back on their Hall of Fame careers, Kakko and Lafreniere knew that they owed much of their success to the Penguins. They had found a second home in Pittsburgh, a place where they could reach their full potential and become the stars they were always meant to be.

Just sit Malkin on his ass. Looking at you Trouba. Rock him into the middle of next week.

As bad as the refs thing is with the Pens, and fair enough, I still don't think it's as bad as Washington.

The f***ing Caps commit a penalty literally every time they make contact with an opponent and it just stops getting called.
"It's their playing style / identity."

That's how the league works, sadly.
