If you really think the league is conspiring to help the Pens by directing the refs to cheat, I can't help you.

All fan bases think they're getting cheated. Refs can't call hockey effectively. They've proven that over the years. Too fast, too many moving parts. Then throw in the natural inclination to wonder if you're going to seem like you're calling too may one way or the other and yeah refs suck. But a league wide plot. You may as well turn off the games.
I liken it to watching professional wrestling….and don’t even pretend personal biases or other external influences can’t creep into the officials. See Tim Donaghy!

I don't hate the Penguins because I think the league is in on the take, I hate the Penguins because they've blatantly tanked twice to get two hall of fame players in Lemieux and Malkin, and got lucky with the Crosby lottery because the amount of balls allocated to teams was insulting. Pitt had been in the playoffs like 2 years prior, and they got the same odds at Crosby that we did. Absurd.

Hey we won the lottery and moved up to get Kakko & Lafreniere in back to back years!

Say what you will about the Pens, they get top six players out of absolute nobodies.
I mean, we did that with Ryan Strome; we just don't do it as often because we don't have Sidney f***in Crosby lol

We also do it well with bottom 6 guys though, granted we have misses in there too. But like, Gauthier, Pouliot, Blackwell, Vesey round 2... even guys like Rooney, Lindberg, etc. I think we got more mileage out of than they deserved

imagine how bad we would feel if we squandered both prime Crosby and Hank without winning a cup though

I mean, 2 of the 4 teams with 3 balls had not picked at the top of the draft and had not made the playoffs in any of those years. They were the only teams that deserved 3 balls. 1 had picked at the top once and should have lost a ball. 1 of them, incidentally the team that won the lottery right after a franchise legend that had bought the team was threatening to move it to Kansas City, picked at the top of the draft twice, and should have only had one ball.

On top of that, the years included for some reason weren't equal. If they had been looking at 2001 to 2005 as a whole, the Sabres and Penguins would have lost another ball for making the playoffs. Weird that they didn't go back that far for the playoffs.

It didn't quite make sense.

I'll argue it does

Wonder if Igor will be this generation’s Khabibulin: either brilliant or mediocre any given year — just not as bad as bad Bulin (because, really, bad Bulin was atrocious). Just coming to terms with his not being as consistent and productive as Hank or Luongo is tough.

As for todays FTX Jinx of the Game, brought to you by First Republic Bank:

7-0 Penguins win
Kevin Stevens hat-trick
Kovalev hat-trick
Igor own foal
Hedberg shutout
Kid line to LTIR after flipping Crosby knocks them all over like bowling pins.
Fox suspended for the rest of the year for giving Malkin a dirty look
Dolan sells team to Credit Suisse
