As for my math, my understanding is that 5 on 3 is almost exactly twice as good as 5 on 4. Meaning 2 minutes of 5 on 3 is almost exactly as good as 2 + 2 of 5 on 4. So it's almost exactly break-even either way on the penalties themselves, so the extra "free" 2-man-edge you get means you should keep possession every time.

I feel it really depends on the situation. But I think if you make a point to get it to the net then yeh go for it.

I think if you have clear control you already have a 2 man possession so might as well try to get a chance.

The Jets would have just passed it around like soccer on a 5v3 anyways so glad they didn't give it up
