Barclay Goodrow is no longer an NHL quality player. He's aged out of that. I wouldn't be opposed to buying him out, though it will make reaching the cap floor more difficult next year - maybe we should just bury him.

I’m not sure how we keep coming back to shitting on Warsofsky. This team was already bad, shipped out quality vets, weakened out already horrible backend, killed the vibes, and they’re still playing hard, competitive hockey. That’s a culture that the coaching staff helps instill.
He may not be the best coach (I don’t have enough tactics knowledge to be able to tell), but I really don’t think he deserves the degree of criticism this board throws his way after losses.

A fan favorite was just traded. This team needs as many fan favorite players as possible to get butts in seats. Now Eklund looked like he was sulking all game yesterday. It’s not a good look. I am concerned if things don’t start turning around two seasons from now that San Jose could lose the Sharks. A Buffalo, Detroit or Ottawa level of suck won’t last in the Bay Area.

The San Francisco Bay Area is one of the most phenomenally wealthy places on Earth, with a huge population, and the Sharks have 100% control over its hockey market and the surrounding area.
What other market can potentially match that? Houston and Atlanta are the only two I can think of even close.

The team is only this bad right now because Wilson kept doing what the Chicken Littles in this thread are advocating for, denying the reality of his situation and investing in the current losing roster rather than pushing towards a future window, ironically those who are upset we aren't "trying to improve now" are suggesting we make mistakes that would guarantee we don't win ever, since we still wouldn't be winning now

People being sad doesn't really explain the absolute insanity and tremendous leaps that some of the hotter takes are making. Thinking that shipping a bunch of guys out in a time where it was still explained and known that the team was in the sell-off phase somehow correlates to them slashing budget so that Plattner can sell the team is a huuuuuuge stretch. Going from "yeah, Grier's doing a good job." to "OMG HE'S BOTCHING THIS AND WE'RE GONNA BE STUCK IN THE PIT OF SUCK FOREVER NOW!" because he traded a popular middle-6 winger for a 2nd and a potential solid 3C more in line with the age bracket of our presumptive core seems excessive. Thinking that they're still intent on sucking forever while management explicitly says that this is the end of the sell-off is weird.
It's like people are inventing, extrapolating, or massively overstating reasons to be mad, then getting mad at those projected/hypothetical/outmoded reasons instead of reality.
I'm sad that Zetterlund is gone too. And I think the trade is probably light on return for him even though I will also admit that I am higher on Ostapchuk than most if not all others here. But that trade is a far cry from being compelling evidence that Grier is suddenly incompetent, or looking to forever extend the tank, or thinking that the team is in dire danger of losing its place in the market and facing a sale or relocation or whatever.
If we're like 3/4s of the way through next year and still gutting the roster, and struggling to take a step forward then it's time to be concerned. But honestly, from the moment Celebrini was drafted my biggest concern was going to be the potential for people to overrate how much of an impact he can have and start calling to accelerate the rebuild so that the team is ready to contend in a year or two instead of letting it take its course. Because stepping on the gas at the first sign of optimism is how you end up like Columbus for the last 10-15 years.
I'm sure that many people liked him, but he's no Burns, Thornton, Marleau, Couture, Pavelski etc. As others have stated, his departure isn't that powerful.
