The contrast between these two lineups is staggering.

Ones almost a complete AHL team, the other is filled with superstars and future HOFers.

Yet, I still see us either winning or losing in OT.

I mentioned this to @MarkovsKnee who mentioned that the centers will be Suzuki, Drouin, Belzile & Tierny. I told him that if the Rangers struggle against this center line, they will need to ask themselves some questions.

If Ylonen could add a bit of Lehky's battle and sacrifice he would be a hell of a player. I do see some similarities, for sure.

Ylonen looks a bit more dynamic skating and using edges than Lehky, but is still a little tentative and perimeter based. That's been trending in a better direction though.

Don't know how we're going to find NHL roster space for all these guys next year. I'd also say Pezz and RHP look like NHLers.

Lehkonen and Ylonen have some similarities. Shot, skating, not play drivers with the puck.

So far, I used a little more playmaking ability in Ylonen. Lehkonen was more effective in the dirty areas. It remains to be seen if Ylonen can anywhere near as good defensively and at not turning over the puck/taking care of the puck.

Agreed with both and glad I'm not going crazy and see some similarities in both. Lehky scored a lot around the net, rebounds and hard work, maybe something that Ylo will eventually get to by playing more and becoming more comfortable along the way

I gather from that post that communication is important.

If you’re not mentioning, you’re telling or you’re asking. Or, someone is. :sarcasm:

You’re also referencing a conversation with a body part (knee).

I’d like to see the world through your eyes for a few minutes — seems intriguing. ;)

Mode of Operation of this franchise
Don’t mean to quibble but none of us have had access to Ghule’s medical records, prognosis, nor rehab protocol.

I know as fans we get frustrated by the high number and length of Habs injuries, but none of us know for a fact who exactly they may be imputable to, if there even is a culprit.

While I always cheer for a win...I have no issue with losing 15 of the last 19. Just get it over with.

Personally, with everyone interesting injured, I'm mostly following the scoreboard for the Habs. It's still an amazing end of season for me though. That's because I'm watching McDavid. 150 points and 60 goals are pretty much a given. But, can he do 70 goals 160 points ? He's on pace for it in his last 17 games That would mean the best non Gretzky/Lemieux season.

I think it's simply the illusion of rushing Guhle back. If Harris was not hurt would Guhle play tonight?

Matheson nickname is Billy (Madison)

Perfectly fine with it for the remainder of this season!! :)

Am I crazy or I'm the only one that sees a mini version of Lehkonen in Ylonen long term?
I don't see it. Lekhonen's claim to fame are his defensive play and his great forechecking. Ylonen isn't really effective at either. He might pan out as a more offensive threat.

Who can truly answer that without insider knowledge? Maybe Guhle is not as badly injured as he looked? Maybe they performed several tests and consulted specialists during the time he was out and came to the conclusion there was no major injury involved? The time he was out was a function of an abundance of caution?

It's such a slippery slope. Medicine is not an exact science either (but it's usually reliable in the hands of the best) but what the Habs have as actionable info is the difference. We can't even get timely medical updates from the team on a lot of players so how are we supposed to arrive at informed opinions? We're just throwing darts in the dark.

It's up to the team to clear things up on the medical/ rehab front. We're just connecting dots that don't always lead to reliable conclusions and sometimes we're even connecting dots that don't exist due to the wide array of assumptions we need to make, to arrive at them. I know it can be frustrating but that's really a matter for the organization to sort out and all we can do is to make sure that Hughes follows through with his commitment to have the medical /training staff, reviewed after the end of the season.

Well said sir.
To that same point...WTF is wrong with Dach? How does a guy go from non covid illness to a LBI? This is why fans get so frustrated.

Put 50$ on Montreal to win for an easy 6x odds, the other teams aren't even trying so its a good vegas bet

I'm kinda surprised you think Rangers are all AHLers but I agree with you that Belzile and Pitlick are future HOFers.

Soooo.... not playing tonight?

Slaf-Dach-Caufield
Byron-Monahan-Gallagher
Evans-Dvorak-Armia

Ghule (?)Harris
Baron Xhekaj

Price

Are we going to beat our own all time record of missed games 2 years in a row?
I totally forgot about him...:naughty:

The only thing similar between the two is the country they are from.

The only thing similar between the two is the first language they speak.
Which player on the Canadiens current roster is more similar to Lehkonen than Ylonen?

Having some similarities doesn't mean they're the same or even similar players. But Ylonen has shown the potential to be a similar level player to the player Lehkonen was in Montreal, and who knows maybe even the player Lehkonen is in Colorado, despite all their differences.

Lehkonen was unique and should had been kept in MTL.

We got a fantastic return for Lehkonen and having kept him during this rebuild would have done absolutely nothing for us. I do see a lot of similarities with both, Ylonen's play will only get stronger without the puck down the road.

So far the best thing that can come out of moving Lehkonen is getting good players in the draft from sinking in the standings due to losing him, plus Barron and whatever becomes of the Colorado 2nd.

But yeah it would have been nice to see what he would have become under MSL in MTL. And Ylonen definitely has big shoes to fill if he wants to be a similar level player as Lehkonen. And yes, I agree Lehkonen was unique, and accomplished great things in Colorado.
