Yep. There are different ways to look at the scenario then. If you think the Rangers are going to rebound next year and be a playoff team we're talking about a pick in the late teens or early 20's but what I understand is next year is also a deeper draft.
Honestly I want to think they will bounce back. However if Drury goes full nuke and manages to trade away Kreider, Zib and Panarin (even as maligned as they've been this season); there is a good chance whatever they return will either be futures based or not on equivalent production levels. I guess when it boils down to it, unless they tank bad enough to end up top 10, I'd rather they surrender this years pick and try to add another 26 1st in summer trades.

Eh, just dont see it. We will be better without Kreider and hopefully Mika too, we will have JT for a full season. New coach likely. We will never be a bottom dweller with Igor, even in an off season from him we have hovering around the playoffs.

And we will have a lot of money to spend for a good UFA or two. I'd be shocked if we arent a playoff team again next year.
LOL......we might be calling you AC/DC then by this time next year . Remember.....an injury to Fox-Miller or Igor will likely cost us points . Plus moving 2 guys that don't have to move and a 3rd that will just quit and have any trade voided.....it won't be pretty . Can we be better...certainly but the chances of regressing with a younger team is far more likely to happen . I hope not...

My expecto-meter for this team and season is fully calibrated now. I'm interested to see what they do from here on in and that's it, rooting for them because "anything can happen", nah.

@SnowblindNYR I know he's been good this year, but I kinda hope there was there a Quick post after last game, it was 'make a save' Georgiev level

There were some Quick posts in there. I didn't see goals 6 and 7 but Georgiev was special, even Igor rarely has those games. It was more like "make a tough save ONE frigging time". It just seemed like he was 0 for every save that wasn't a gimme.

Maybe if you would assume Drury doesnt get any replacements in the offseason. Trading Kreider and Panarin/Mika would bring a player or two back, hopefully a good young player or two. Then we add another decent UFA or two with the money we have. Absolutely would be a playoff team again.

Unless we win the lotto again, I'd rather not give Pittsburgh our 2026. Our current team trajectory has that pick being a good one.
It literally doesnt, not sure how you come to that conclusion that we would be a bottom dweller team next year.

Not even close, average in 23-24 was .903 average in 22-23 was .904
And in this career worst season Igor is still top 10 in the NHL in GSAE & WAR. People can say whatever about the contract but they have been spoiled by being a fan of a team with elite goaltending for 30 years, what we're seeing this season is how our team looks quite good but not elite goaltending.
Are .916 and 9.13 really average these days? It’s not 2012 anymore.
Fair enough, I stand corrected but still not good enough for a goalie about to get paid 11.5m.

He’s good buuuuttttt VETTTTSSSSSS
And Berard, frankly, could still have success playing in Othmann's current spot. He's the kind of player who even in an energy checking role for 9 minutes, it still suits his game fine.

Othmann, on the other hand, will never develop on the 4th line.

Pretty baffling
