Just a hunch: if we don't win in the first round, I think Mike Kelly "retires", but Gallant is retained. If we don't even make the playoffs, Gallant and co. are fired.

As Gerard Gallant's tribe basked in the afterglow of their hard-won victory, a stranger appeared on the horizon. He was a malnourished and disheveled young man, but his movements were graceful and precise. He introduced himself as Patrick Kane, a wanderer who had been wandering the wilds alone for months.

Gerard took an immediate interest in the young man. Despite his haggard appearance, he could see a fire burning in his eyes, a fierce determination that spoke of a deep reservoir of skill and potential.

With the tribe's consent, Gerard welcomed Kane into their fold, and began training him in their ways of combat. Despite being malnourished and physically weak, Kane proved to be a quick learner, picking up the intricacies of their fighting techniques with ease.

As he grew stronger and more skilled, Kane became a valuable asset to the tribe. His speed and agility allowed him to dart in and out of the enemy's defenses, delivering swift and precise blows that left his foes reeling.

Through his tireless efforts, Kane proved to be an indispensable member of Gerard's tribe. His talents complemented those of the other warriors perfectly, creating a deadly fighting force that struck fear into the hearts of their enemies.

Together, Gerard and Kane had forged a bond that would last a lifetime. Through their shared experiences on the battlefield, they had grown to trust and respect one another, cementing their place in the annals of caveman history as legendary warriors who fought with a grace and skill that defied all expectations.

It's honestly a surprise we are even going to make the playoffs. We get so little out of our players and there are serious flaws in roster construction

The $11.5 million elephant that not enough people are talking about
He's one of the only guys with any skill lol remove him and we'd be the worst offensive team in NHL history. and don't try telling me we'd fill the rest of that cap space you somehow move with skill, that's what they said about Buch when they used that same amount of cap space on Nemeth, Reaves & Goodrow

This is exactly it. I just don't see how you can win not being able to win puck battles deep in the oppositions zone. The kid line isn't even doing it now. I still have a little more faith in Tarasenko being able to win those puck battles than Kane that's for sure.
I think anyone who joins this team has that part of the game just leak away by virtue of the culture here. Other teams' day to day environments must be Rikers or Sing Sing compared to the NY Rangers

Maybe we will ship off Panarin, Kreider and/or Trouba for high picks and go back to building around youth.

The most laughable excuse of all time. Had no cap room for your best RW, homegrown nonetheless. And then replaced his cap hit with 3 losers.

The problem in hindsight with adding guys like tarasenko and Kane is neither are forechecker or good at winning 50/50 pucks and so for a team that sucks coming out of their end with puck control you have to rely more on dump-ins and area passes that guys skate into. Those two really aren't going to help in that area. It's just poor roster construction unfortunately.
This wasn’t hindsight for many.

Dude is on pace for 90+ points and some guys on here still think we'd be better if we played guys with questionable skating and offensive instincts like Kakko more and got rid of Panarin

Just give us an even effort period like the first is that too much to ask for?

Panarins only issue right now is his moron coach trying to shoe horn a line together because he and our latest acquisition were good together 7 years ago.

I say this as a massive Panarin critic and someone who never wanted him here to begin win.

Gallant is on exactly the same path as with Vegas and Florida. Good first season and after that underachieving with a good roster. No wonder he was fired by season three by everyone. Same thing going to happen here.
This roster is way better on paper than they are on the ice. This is fantasy league team, not one that works in real life.
