lol @ this place - a couple days ago everyone wanted to trade Voynov, now it's Muzzin's turn. Both times after a win.

Yup. Lots of fickleness going on. Even though Muzzin remains the Kings' comic relief on D, he is nowhere near the point on giving up on. If he has not improved but this time next year, however, ...

Was the canes goal tipped in (down) with a high stick?

Live the stick looked high and the replay at Staples it still looked high.

I was surprised the initial call on the ice was good goal.

Contending teams don't have projects as their first pairing defenseman... If he's really as good as some people think we should get something nice if we trade him.

I guess I don't understand how this is Muzzin's fault. He plays with Doughty because Regehr and Mitchell are boat anchors that can't keep up with Doughty on a regular basis.

Muzzin has made some substantial strides in his development this season. He still has a lot to improve on, but his game has not stagnated , he continues to improve.

No one wants Voynov traded, people say he's playing bad.

False. Go back and read the last couple PGTs.

Everyone wants Muzzin traded. There is a pretty big difference.

False again. I don't. The Kings coaches and management don't. Any rational fan who doesn't call for a major shakeup after EVERY SINGLE GAME doesn't.

What does he continue to improve on? Making less bonehead mistakes? I don't see where he's improved to the point of entrusting him with more minutes. And he's not some rookie in his early 20s, he has quite a bit of pro experience now. His brain cells have gone stagnant.

Muzzin aside, Toffoli only got 12:41 minutes of ice time today. Didn't watch most of the game but I didn't really even notice him. Who did he line up with? and how did he play?

Started off with Kopi and Williams than Sutter switched the top 2 lines to Pearson/Kopi/Carter and Toffoli/Richards/Williams by the 3rd period.

I think he has progressed quite a bit since the start of the season just some 60-odd games ago. Muzzin just turned 25 years of age, which is still quite young for a defenseman and most are not fully developed by that age.

His decision making has improved greatly since the beginning of the season as well. As I said Sutter sees Muzzin and Martinez every day. I know he isn't an expert like you, but I think his evaluation of their play is right on point, and Doughty seems to have the same opinion.

I'm fine with trading a package that includes Muzzin IF the Kings get a defenseman in the deal that is better than him.

Again, it's not Muzzin's fault that he is forced to play big minutes against the other team's top players. He is going through a baptism by fire, and is holding up fairly well.

I guess the coaching staff must be seeing the same flaws in his game as most of us critics of him as well. Just look at his dwindling ice time: http://www.nhl.com/ice/player.htm?id=8474162&season=20132014&view=log

But coach's never make any mistakes, right? They must know something we don't. So explain to my why they're cutting down on his minutes and why they're actually slowly removing him away from tough matches. Gee, could it be because they realized how he gets outmatched against tougher opposition? Nah, surely it can't be that, because we don't know what we're talking about.

You'd have to be pretty thick not to realize how flawed this guys game is and how he isn't showing any signs of improvement when it comes to making quick decisions and playing under pressure. I understand why the coaching staff keeps playing him though because the Kings really aren't that deep on the blueline and have no better options in Manchester. The Kings' supposed luxury of riches on the blueline took a hit when Scuderi and Hickey departed with nobody being brought in to replace them.

Regehr, Mitchell and Greene don't have the foot speed to play catch up, and Muzzin doesn't have the brains to play catch up. Martinez can be physically outmatched but he's a better thinker on the ice. Voynov has to be better and Muzzin needs the Wizard of Oz to grant him some hockey sense. It's his play away from the puck that scares most of us, and judging by his reduced ice time, it's also a concern for the coaching staff.

im not one to put much stock into +/-, but aside from the last three games, the last game Muzz went - was Nov 23rd. hes been -1/-3/-1 in the last three games. THAT is quite concerning especially when you consider we've won all three of the last games

How is it possible for anyone to be -3 in any of the last 3 games? Colorado we only gave up 1 even strength goal (Our PK crapped the bed and gave up 3 goals). We shut out Calgary and gave up one goal against Carolina. And I distinctly remember Regehr being on the ice for the Carolina goal, so at worst Muzzin is even for the Carolina game.

I think you need to double check your +/- stats.

He must have misread. Muzzin's an even for the last 3 games.

Nice catch!

I want to know people's thoughts on this, but I want to make the outlandish claim that I think the reason our powerplay is so bad has a lot to do with Drew Doughty. He is not a good PP QB.
I checked it myself tonight again, I just dont see what he could have done any different. Was playing on the first PP unit for team Canada as well and if there was one player that mishandled the puck constantly, than it was Weber.

Drew looked fine on the PP in his sophomore season as well. What about the playoffs when the Kings only seem to score on the PP vs Vancouver.

No I dont buy it.

The PP just looks slow. In the past, the PP was used to pass the puck quickly. Brown constantly loses any battle for the puck, some awful decision making by some other players too. You never see a great cross pass, just tic-tac-toe, puck gone.

That kind of stuff.

12.41 of ice time for TT, looks fine to me. I think TT needs to do too much and his biggest asset (looking for open area's to shoot) is wasted because of that. Last night he was grinding all the time.

He had one great chance when Khudobin gave the puck away behind the net but Toffoli mishandled the puck. That was a real shame.

We won and are on a 4 game winning streak and all that's being discussed is Muzzin? This place...

Its a good sign that even after a win people recognize weak spots in the line up or any other flaws.

You dont need to lose before you can complain. Personally I think that is more annoying.

Until the Kings find a replacement, Lombardi shoehorned himself into playing Muzzin on the top pairing.

Gotta deal with it.

Just like Slava's terrible season , and Brown's frequent dissapearing this season.

Keep bringing on the wins.

On the contrary, I think it's sad and pathetic that people are incapable of enjoying when our team wins and always have to harp on the negative.

Except a team is always gonna have a weakness. Even Canada had a "weakness" so then its just becomes a bunch of whiny internet posters that won't let stuff go or make **** up to fit their agenda.

Wow, shocking revelations here. Is there anyone here that has said Muzzin is a top pairing defenseman?

Muzzin has improved a great deal since the start of the season. It's unfortunate that the role he is forced to play exposes his weaknesses, but he is still developing and has a much higher ceiling than any other Kings' defenseman not named Doughty or Voynov.
