Fell asleep after the 2nd. How was the 3rd? Did they kept on pushing and playing well? Fell into a shell and didn't allow much to LA?

Glad they hold on and get these huge 2pts.

JJ, they dominated the 3rd. I just watched the game this AM and was stunned, the Kings were lucky they were still in this. I think the B`s only allowed 2-3 shots in the final period.

Khudobin played well, did his job, Kings look like they have lost all their mojo from years past, Kopitar appears either hurt or is slowing down drastically, just not nearly the same guy we`ve been accustomed to seeing

Props to fans in the east who hung in to watch this one.

Huge win when they needed it. Could (should?) have had points from all three games in California. Two of three made it a successful stretch. Doby earned his pay check and reduced the fans bulk purchase of tums this year. Arguably he could be the most important player in determining the B's fate for a PO spot. Rask can't carry the mail every night. Clamped down hard on the Kings in the third and got the offence from players who are paid to deliver it. Tough luck for Chalerik. His first will come much sooner than later. Has fit into the line up seamlessly.

Gained some valuable ground on the Leafs and Habs. Leafs/Rangers game was a goaltending clinic by Hank and Freddie. OT was electric. Habs doing some serious sole searching as they hear the horses closing hard on them. Our old friend Dougie was the difference maker in TB. Sweeny should send him a case of Sam Adams as a thank you - you know, just because.

Off to big D for what might be termed a trap game. No time for mental let downs when they drop in to say hi to Segy. Keep Marchy under a curfew with round the clock surveillance! :sarcasm:

Good to know.

Only Carter is able to score for the Kings this year. Kopitar has 6 goals. :amazed:

Bring on the Stars and keep on this hot streak!

you HAVE to listen to TSN Radio outta Montreal, it`s the best comedy/tragic horror show I enjoy listening to after each loss:yo:

it`s nauseating when they are winning, but great listening when they aren`t

yeah, you know, the Kings seem to be kind of stuck in a similar situation to the B`s. Have the vet core players, trying to install kids in the lineup and find a way to scratch a playoff berth from it. Has to be one of the hardest things to do in the NHL, rebuilding/retooling on the fly

Hopefully Khduobin is finally back on track. This would be a 100 point team even with average backup goaltending.

so many pts left on the table with the inability of the back ups to provide this team with timely goal tending, especially when the boys in front of them were struggling to score

Really though.

Folks are posting like all of sudden without Julien behind the bench this group all of sudden forgot how to play the box-out collapsing defensive system that Claude has instilled here the past decade.

Come on, under Cassidy they are playing pond hockey. Can't you see it ?

I can see differences in the offensive zone and the neutral zone. Especially the offensive zone.

In their own zone Cassidy hasn't all of sudden decided to revert to a man-to-man system and toss out Julien's box-out scheme. We are seeing some differences on the break-out and how the forwards support the D coming out of the zone.

But the box-out scheme in their own zone that has been the foundation of this team defensively for years is still there.

The Bruins are now 5-1 under the guy who's not as good as Julien.

And this is against some pretty good teams and a western road trip
that usually destroys us...

Keep it up boys!

agreed, what I have noticed is subtle but it makes life easier for the D, the wingers seem to be dropping down just below the hash marks to give the D/C an easier target to hit rather than a longer pass/play up the boards which has given opponents time to react to

I like that Cassidy knows this team is essentially a two line team. Bergy, Krejci, Backes, and Marchy all played a TON of ice time these passed two games. Pasta had close to 20 minutes against the Ducks. I didn't look back further than that, but I doubt it's any different in Cassidy's reign.

Really happy for Dobby too. I've always liked him, was sad to see him go down hill after leaving the B's, hope he gives us some solid backup play for the rest of the season

Boston is 5-1 with Cassidy
MTL is 1-2 with Julien

Bruins are only 4 pts back from the Habs - both teams with 19 games remaining - could make for a great stretch run. Its a shame they wont play each other over that stretch.

LOS ANGELES — The Bruins prospects for success last night didn’t seem all that great, for myriad reasons.

But the B’s mustered a terrific bend-don’t-break performance against the tough and talented Kings, earning a gutsy 4-1 victory for their second win in three games in California.

The B’s cinched their very impressive win when Dominic Moore (No. 9) hit an empty net with 1:02 left. David Krejci (15) added a second empty-netter with 7.2 seconds to go.

Backup goalie Anton Khudobin (27 saves) was a busy man all night and played extremely well. He also had some luck, with three Los Angeles shots ringing posts. After 40 minutes, the Kings had a 55-36 edge in total shot attempts (CORSI) — a good indicator that they had the puck a lot and plenty of shots.

I don't think he needs to do anything other than maybe a 1 or 2 yr stopgap like Oduya (if he's playing well Idk)and moving one or both of mcquaid/K.Miller

Carlo will be have a year under his belt, Krug is good, chara is good, and I think the remaining group of defenseman can round that out (one of mcquaid-k.miller//C.Miller/O'Gara/Lauzon/Grzelcyk/Zboril/even a Cross)

Great win tonight. Successful west coast swing

I will never understand people who want to replace established NHL defensemen with kids who have not played at the NHL level, and who don't have a track record of high level play in the AHL. I get wanting to move K Miller and McQuaid. I don't get replacing them with lesser pieces - and all those options, at least at present, are lesser pieces.

Then might as well get rid of all the prospects then. They will all be considered lesser until they become established NHLers.

I'd like to say that last night's win made the screw job from Wednesday easier to deal with, but it kind of frustrates me more.

That 1-2 points may be the difference between playoffs or no playoffs.

...

5-1 with a new coach and still see defending Claude Julien as a priority :shakehead

I'm pretty sure she's not defending Julien so much as pointing out how the things that got Julien **** upon is overlooked by these boards. Not unsurprising if you've been here for a while. When the team struggles a bit, look for those same knives to come out for Cassidy.

I'm going to say this here:

Lots of people complained about Claude not giving Colin Miller chances and letting him play so he can develop. People even said that now that Cassidy is coach, Colin Miller will be playing more minutes and given more opportunities.

He's averaging way less ice time under Bruce Cassidy. And tonight (he didn't play bad) he played 10 minutes.

People also complained that Claude used the 4th line at times when he "shouldn't have." Bruce Cassidy is giving Moore and Schaller/Nash loads of ice time for 4th liners.

Just saying

Under Cassidy they are 100% more entertaining to watch
Take your sour grapes elsewhere

Watched the game out in the pub for a change - with an old friend of mine who's a life long Kings (and Flames) fan. He doesn't watch the Bruins so it was interesting for a few of his reactions.
He couldn't believe how fast the Bruins are, how aggressive, and entertaining.
And lots of comments about Bergeron and Marchand. How they're just on another level.

Was nice that fans of other teams are enjoying when the Bruins roll into town - just because of the tempo of the games.
