Because goaltending has been bad all season and it's the area most obviously in need of repair and easiest to upgrade, given how objectively bad both goalies are relative to the rest of the league.

I wish, but I don't know who's available at the trade deadline you'd want. Gibson is maybe the best option, and that isn't exactly a slam dunk win for the Oils.

We sit at the perimeter and go for tap ins, and it only works because mcdrai tbh. Anyone else and it's an unmitigated disaster

They do it because this team will die if they play a rush game with this defense and this goaltending.

They play a possession game out of necessity.

I want a goaltending upgrade but I also think the main issues isn't goaltending. Our entire fwd core is washed and useless outside of 2 players.

He's also not a good Goaltender by NHL standards, to be clear.

That should underscore just how bad this group of goalies is.

That was exactly my point though. Campbell and Kosk were bad signings and not great goalies to boot. Skinner thankfully isn't signed long term and quite likely will not get paid in the offseason by us or anyone else.

It's not even just that they are losing... it's the way they are losing... there is just mediocrity from top to bottom and other than Drai... no one has been close to consistently decent.

Koskinen was never close to this bad statistically.

And he played for a team that gave up like 50% more chances. Koski likely got a tough go.

This team with Koskinen in net is first in the West.

People conveniently forget that Smith and Koskinen played for this team BEFORE EKHOLM. Skinner has had a much better defense in front of him...ignoring the last month of course.

Core has been mentally soft for years. Pros understand and keep pushing. This is just giving up.

This is BS. This team has fought from behind constantly for years. Having to out score horrible goaltending. Went to game 7 of the finals despite having the worst goaltending of the playoffs.

The group has 0% confidence in their goaltending. Could they play better? Absolutely, I'm sure they would with a goalie change

During the Decade of Darkness, Shawn Horcoff said something about it being REALLY hard to motivate yourself to take a hit, take abuse in the slot, or go down to block a shot when you're dead last in the league 20 games into a season.

What you're seeing is "backbreaking demoralizing goaltending".


This game was as good as over once that first softie went in. The saaaag that happened to this team, knowing this was the bullshit goaltending we were getting tonight.

The 2nd softie was the hammer in the coffin.



This team isn't playing to win. They're playing not to get hurt, and maybe playing to pad some stats, but they know they're not winning this game with that goaltending.
