Hate to raise this question in a win, but.....RyJo was on the ice for a forward leading 16 minutes which makes sense But it's hard for me to reconcile Jenner getting 16. I know they're line mates but I have to wonder if Jenner is a guy who merits those minutes at this point in his development.

He eats minutes, I'll give him that. But Bob played well tonight and the team really limited Toronto's chances. Aside from having the endurance to be on the ice so much, it's hard to figure what Johnson brings to the team. I thought he was supposed to have offense to counter his defensive inadequacies, but he isn't nearly as dangerous as Wiz. A guy like Tyuts is the kind of guy who I really think you don't necessarily know what you've got til it's gone, but Johnson to me isn't like that.

I'm not out to get him, he's not particularly detrimental to the team, but he doesn't have an NTC and if he can packaged for an upgrade I have no sentimentality about pulling the trigger on a trade to vamose the guy

You do realize that Jack Johnson is part of the team, tonight a really big part since he played over half the game, that limited Toronto's chances don't you?

That is not good news on the Murray front.

Its easy to say the team wouldn't miss him while he's in. Personally, I think if he was injured our D would have a far greater negative impact than what it is with Tyutin out. 30 minutes is nothing to scoff at, and he does it well.

I thought Jenner looked pretty good out there. Perhaps he hasn't fully earned his minutes, but I haven't seen anything sufficient from him or anyone else on the team to justify taking them away at this moment.

Here is what I know. We won away from home at against another playoff team. I don't care how we played.

I agree I thought Jenner deserved it. I thought he played great

Not encouraging, but at the same time Porty is just covering his @$$ by putting out two directly contradictory statements. If Murray's injury is minor than he got the quote from the coach, but if his "source" is right and Murray is out a while then everyone thinks Porty has inside knowledge.

I wish we could get a new beat writer. :help:

I think he's been really effective at forcing turnovers, banging bodies and starting possession. Probably more effective than Horton.

I thought JJ was great tonight, but unfortunately he never keeps it up for more than a couple games here and there. So I tend to agree, I think of him as an inconsistent defensive defenceman who occasionally picks up the offence.

I also thought Jenner looked pretty good until Toronto scored then it was a Chinese fire drill by every line except DMac's.

Also didn't like how he & RyJo left the zone early trying to get an empty-netter & Horton couldn't clear it & it almost ended up in their net. Terrible, terrible, terrible play by both of them.

Coach doesn't put you on the ice to pad your stats with an easy goal, you're there to clear the zone & win the game & if you get an attempt at it then fine.

IMO while his skill level may not justify that ice time, his work ethic and willingness to do the "dirty work" does. In addition is the fact that his aggressive fore-checking and speed creates space for Johansen and Jenner to operate.

If he were injured in a game the team would miss him because he's on the ice so much, so it would be a lot of extra duty for the other guys. Beyond that, I'd be interested to see how missed he would be once his replacement was called up. I think an injured Tyutin is a bigger blow to this roster than a injured JJ, so I think there's a difference between trading him and trading Tyutin. It would take a lot to replace Tyuts in my book, not as much to replace JJ.

While I don't know what you mean by "offence" :sarcasm: I agree. He can have a great stretch, but it's always only a stretch. I'd prefer a guy who's better at playing the position every game than JJ.

Coach doesn't put you on the ice to pad your stats with an easy goal, you're there to clear the zone & win the game & if you get an attempt at it then fine.

I hear you, except the EN goal counts as a goal and ends the game, so I understand wanting to pot one to remove the doubt. That's why I was wanting Foligno to be a touch more aggressive when he had the puck in Toronto's zone with the empty net.

But I like Jenner's play lately. I'm impressed by his not be intimidated and just playing his game, seems like a hard guy to work over.

Interesting the viewing prism regarding each. I agree with your take on Horton. He is fallen short of the expectations. On the other hand well Jenner, playing at a similar level, exceeds expectations which I think is fair to say. I agree that he has been more effective in forcing play. My comments relate more to what I expect from guys on the number one line. RyJo needs at least one dangerous winger to most effectively support his game.

And if he keeps it up I'll shut my mouth probably. But will he keep it up? He turned it on after the Olympics snub but I'd like him to have it on even when he's not snubbed. And still, where's his shot gone?

Sooo....Aaron's supposed to just pick and report the statement he believes is most accurate? Or should he use his own medical expertise and provide his own medical assessment?
