Having Parayko roam around in the o-zone changes his game completely. He's not a passer, but he's a great finisher. I hope this version isn't just a career year and is his new normal.
Hard to imagine it will be a new norm for his scoring rate, but even if he doesn’t score as much in the future, it’ll still be a huge improvement in his offensive impact.

Good 1st Period for The Blues. The stats were fairly even, but The Blues lead on the scoreboard, because of clutch plays by Parayko, joining the forwards, driving towards the net and firing the puck by the surprised Kings goalie on a quick shot, and Buchnevich jumping on the loose puck and batting it into the net while 3 Blues were in a scrum flurry right in front. They did possess the puck a little more than The Kings throughout the period. I hope they can build that lead.

He's also doing a monster job in the D-zone

I'm just happy I can actually enjoy watching games these last few games. Much better style of hockey to watch.
Yes. They've gotten back into a reasonable quality of game for the first extended period of games this season. I, too, have enjoyed watching most of their last 7 games or so. Parayko just had another good chance just now! He's gotten the 15 goals we thought he'd get in his rookie season, and if he keeps playing this way he'll score that many or more EVERY year, till age catches up with him. Of Course, having Fowler for a partner helps a lot, too, so Parayko can join the offence without risking a lot goals against he would with slower skaters who are also much weaker defenders back there. That's why I don't agree with those posters who suggest Army should trade Fowler off at the deadline.

Weegar is the somewhat worry, where last season he had 20 goals and this season he's back to pacing under 10.

I want to find a site that tracks the average shot distance because my expectation is that Parayko is shooting a lot closer to the net, and that's why I think it could be a change in his game and it can be a new norm. Last season he had 11 shots in high-danger areas, and this season he already has 12. Last season he had 2 goals in that area, this season he has 5. Two seasons ago, he had 8 shots in high danger area.

If he can stay active in the offensive zone with his size and skating ability, he should continue to score more goals that he has in the past. That's what it would look like with him taking his game to the next level. He's not going to do it by creating and devloping as a passer, taking what he does well and using it offensively. If he continues to increase the amount of shots in and around the net, he'll continue to score more.

Yes. This is the first season that he's looked like he's not skating in pain since he first got his back injury. But, this is also the first season since his major injury, that he's been jumping into the offence in The O-Zone, going deep, and shooting from closer in than near the BlueLine. He's no longer afraid that if he joins the rush, and drives the net, he'll get caught, and won't be able to get back to defend if the opponents get a turnover, or snag a rebound and start up ice quickly. It's really nice to see. Having Fowler back there, too, helps a lot.
