From another poster…I do not have “insider” status lol…

Directly from Dejan's Friday Insider piece:

Based on everything I saw and heard in New York, and then more information yesterday ... Tristan Jarry will play this weekend, possibly as soon as tonight. That has plenty to do with his foot mending maybe a bit faster than expected, but it also has to do with Louis Domingue not yet having risen to an average level of goaltending. Should be quite a day in that regard.

I'm pretty interested to see what RR's status will be, we could definitely use him

I’m worried about Jarry because he usually takes multiple games to settle into form. But at the same time the chances he doesn’t beat Domingues’ 4.5 GAA is low.

If we could get back Raks and Jarry that'd be a massive help without Sid.

I'm hoping the boys come out smoking and get the crowd into it early. We need to get the 1st goal and snuff the Rangers hopes.

i hate that every series we go into, we're the ones being "hunted." It's been this way for YEARS. we can never give it back either, it's always our best players getting roughed up and trying to survive the series. i get not wanting it to turn into pens-flyers 2012, but it would be nice to return the favor once in a while. trouba deserves to feel some pain in this one.
It comes with the territory, you can't stop players like Crosby playing good D etc. They make you look silly so you try to frustrate them.

That's why I've always said you need to make team pay on the Powerplay, it will take the wind right out of a team.

Many of those teams want us to retaliate, then they can play their game. Unfortunately as we all know Crosby has taken quite a few cheap shots throghout his career, to the head specifically and the NHL calls things the way they want to . Dont get me wrong Crosby gives it back but the Rags knew they couldn't win by playing a clean game, now they a fighting with a punchers chance

Deal.

I am not confrontational as a general rule but man, it gets hard sometimes when you inevitably have Pittsburgh Dad behind you yinzering to his wife/child/buddy about the deep lore of the game and being absolutely wrong about everything. Roughly 98% of the time there is a reference to how it was better when you could just "punch 'em jagoffs in the mouf"
I don't care what they're yinzering about, so long as they are LOUD AS f***. Anyone going to the game tonight, you better bring it.

It would be nice if the Penguins win tonight, if for some reason they just fall behind and the game is decided, nothing would please me more than to take our pound of flesh out of the Rangers. I've been a Penguins Fan for 4 decades and I'm sick of the no consequences when star players get hurt needlessly. My hope is for Letang and Malkin to care enough about Crosby and the ride they've been on enough to summon up an emotional response that leads to a win.

Jarry coming in and slamming the door would be huge for this team. Shesterkin has looked beatable in every game.

if he can…can’t say that I’m not a little concerned that he’ll give up some soft goals since he hasn’t played for six weeks, nor had hard practices to get ready for playoff hockey

Raks is reportedly only out with the skills coach so I doubt he'll be back tonight or maybe even the series.

Hey how did we lose him, again? A really unfortunate hockey play, right?

We can only hope that this isn't a bad one with lingering issues for his sake.

Can't help but have some PTSD with him. Any other player I feel like it'll be a week recovery but Sid worries me.
Agreed. I think if the Pens advance, Crosby will be back in round 2. I do think they are being cautious and I would think if this were severe, something would have been stated already. But who knows? It's all speculation.

I'm confident we'll play a strong game. We just need our stars to play level headed and not go crazy. Also we need to damage them on the PP when we get the chance.

Best revenge is on the scoreboard, and to send them packing.

Good luck to the boys! :thumbu:

I wouldnt count on them ever saying anything…Sullivan is notorious for it and trying to get mind games out there for the opponent…I mean, look, Dumo is still “day to day” yet he’s not even on the ice for more than a week…he’s clearly week to week at best lol…we won’t hear anything…Sid will just never be out there…I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s out the rest of our playoff run, however long that lasts

Getting Jarry back would be so big. It at least creates a possibility of being able to win with 3 goals, where with Domingue we go in knowing we probably need 5.

Again speculation but you just never know, concussions/TBI's are one of the biggest question marks in sports and life in general. I have a family member that suffers from it and its not good.

You just never know and every situation is different, the past history and now this makes you sick to your stomach. You can be out days, weeks, months.

And how often do teams actually pay on the PP? Like I said in the other thread, at most refs will call 50% of those blatant assaults. The best PP in the league will only convert 30% of the time. Statistically it makes sense for teams to try taking out our stars.

The bigger questions are, why do we continually sit back and take it, and why are we never the ones giving it?
