It's a balancing act between being bad enough to maximize lottery odds, but good enough that a few fans still want to show up for games.

As I mentioned in another thread, I feel for the coach. Seems like he is being set up to be fired (not until the end of season mind you). Blame the historic bad team on the rookie coach.

BA wouldn't do that to Tourigny. But a season this bad and goalies this awful can make everything the coach says completely irrelevant. It won't matter how much cap space there is or how many draft picks you have if the culture gets as bad as it's trending.

This is the opposite of the Ottawa model.
