So not a bad game. But we woke up to late (again).

With Dzingel, Hutton and Timmins out its not that cool.
But others can now take over their spot and show what they got.

I am very interested in Dineen.

Keller's career shootout success is only 14%. Perhaps coming in with more speed would improve the number.

Is this coming from the guy that doesn't watch the games?
This is almost true about this game. I tuned in just when Keller scored, left and came back when they were showing the O'Brien's goal. Hell of a shot.

I know this goes against the conventional wisdom around here, but Christian Fischer has been one of the team's best players so far this season. I heard on the broadcast that he's the only player on the entire roster that's in the positives for +/-.

Watch some of the replay last night.

Hutton is made of more active rubber than the puck.... never saw so many pucks pop off a goalie like that.

Saw some good stuff and bad stuff. Florida's defense is almost as good as the Islanders and we still managed to get 3 goals. Our PK...... absolutely SUCKS!!!!!!

Gudas' hit on Timmins was a classic "NHL Player Derek Morris" hip check with about 60 more pounds behind it. Wasn't real dirty or anything, but glad to see we at least responded (probably DZingel's only positive for the night).

We really aren't that much worse than last year, except we don't have the goaltending that can bail us out anymore.

I kind of agree. Which I think is encouraging regarding Tourigny and damning regarding Tocchet. Lose Garland, Dvorak, and OEL and replace them with cap-dumps and it doesn’t seem to matter because we finally have a coach. The insurmountable loss is just going from elite/good NHL goaltending in Kuemper/Hill to abysmal not even NHL, maybe not even AHL adequate goaltending in Hutton and to a lesser extent Vejmelka.

I’m trying to force a silver lining narrative, here. And I think it’s that the skaters are playing a helluva lot better, more effort, more balls, and better coaching. Meanwhile we’re sunk by goaltending.

I'd argue we didn't replace the offensive contributions of Dvo, Garland, or even Bunting. We "lit up" the league last year scoring 2.68 goals/game, and this year have only managed 1.83. Surprisingly, our offense isn't league-worst. That honor goes to the team we traded Dvorak to.

Bush is +2 and Boyd is +1. That's it. No idea why the latter is out of the lineup.

Chychrun is a team worst -10 with no points and is forcing things. He's frazzled. They need to figure that out.

This is exactly right...and I would say that it was the intended design for this season.

Apart from the goalies, Nick Schmaltz has by far the biggest negative impact on this team. He does more harm than good on more shifts than not. Boyd should be playing instead of him. We need to figure out a way to offload this guy. Can Montreal afford him? I’d trade him for Jake Evans and a cap dump. Byron?

Keller’s making up for some of that. He can’t hide anymore.

Lyubushkin has been really good, by the way. Way, way better than expected. His mobility and positioning has vastly improved. He keeps showing up in areas I don’t expect him to be able to get to and making plays I don’t expect him to be able to make. I thought he’d hit his ceiling and it was pretty low. But he’s definitely showing he’s got more.

What do you sense is Schmaltz' trade value? His contract is ugly and gets considerably uglier for the Coyotes as his actual dollars outpaces his cap hit and his NMC* kicks in 2023-24. Does he have negative value?

Cap hit is $5.85m through next 5 years.

Actual Dollars:
This year - $6m
2022-23 - $4.5m
2023-24 - $7.5m*
2024-25 - $8.45m*
2025-26 - $8.5m*

Need to get out of the contract before '23-24.

Would Minny be willing to take him, if they can dump Victor Rask's last year on us? Would they need a longer-term contract like Hartman? Could we do Kessel(50%)+Schmaltz for Rask+Hartman?

How about Kessel(50%)+Schmaltz to Nashville for Sissons+Kunin?
