Chychrun staying motivated and keeping his head screwed on through all of this is my main concern. He has not looked the same and is scrambling constantly and trying to do too much. He hasn't been bad at that perse but maybe this is one of the reasons OEL seemed to decline a little every season.

Would Minny be willing to take him, if they can dump Victor Rask's last year on us? Would they need a longer-term contract like Hartman? Could we do Kessel(50%)+Schmaltz for Rask+Hartman?

How about Kessel(50%)+Schmaltz to Nashville for Sissons+Kunin?
Drouin* for Schmaltz?
Okposo* for Schmaltz?
Kerfoot for Schmaltz?
Eller + Hagelin for Schmaltz?

Add a 3rd round pick or later on either side as necessary.

* assumes these guys waive their M-NTC, given their crappy situations guess they would.

Those deals get out of the ugly Schmaltz years and probably enhance the tank.

He knew that (hell, *they* knew that) but an hour after the game ended?
It feels like Dineen and Mayo are getting "thank you for your service" callups ?

They are old as far as prospects go so there's no harm in chucking them in to the deep end to see what you have. Mayo played well in his limited time and Dineen was pushing pretty hard for a roster spot in the preseason.

Yeah, I'm fine with it...hell "why not?" at this point...I suppose it helps keep Moser and Kolyachonok down in Tucson learning to play like North Americans before they get thrown in, right?

I know this goes against the conventional wisdom around here, but Christian Fischer has been one of the team's best players so far this season. I heard on the broadcast that he's the only player on the entire roster that's in the positives for +/-.
Larsson, Lyubushkin, Boyd and Fischer all + 1
Soderstrom O'Brien and Dzingel all flat 0, with the rest of the roster being negatives, lead by Schmaltz and Chychrun at -9

Watch some of the replay last night.

Hutton is made of more active rubber than the puck.... never saw so many pucks pop off a goalie like that.

Saw some good stuff and bad stuff. Florida's defense is almost as good as the Islanders and we still managed to get 3 goals. Our PK...... absolutely SUCKS!!!!!!

Gudas' hit on Timmins was a classic "NHL Player Derek Morris" hip check with about 60 more pounds behind it. Wasn't real dirty or anything, but glad to see we at least responded (probably DZingel's only positive for the night).

We really aren't that much worse than last year, except we don't have the goaltending that can bail us out anymore.
Really, I think the team is much worse, apart from the goalies.

I hope you're wrong. Knight is in net and will play his ass off to keep it a healthy tandem. I took Florida on a $50 parlay bet. Carolina has to beat Toronto and Tampa needs to win in Buffalo. $50 makes me $140. I like my chances on this bet.

Parlays are the devil once you get to 3 teams or more.

Yeah, it’s nice to see Keller and Crouse and Fischer playing a lot better. But that doesn’t make up for replacing Dvorak with Beagle and Garland with Jaskin.

Chychrun leads the entire NHL in missed shots. So that’s not helping either LOL.

Matthews led the league in misses last year. Ovi 2nd. Chychrun 3rd.

Goal scorers shoot a lot. So they have a lot of misses. Matthews also led the league in shots (222), and also had a very high shooting % of 18.5. I heard Austin is good.

I can attest that shooting a lot is how you win. This was always my strategy in laser tag where I'd have ten thousand shots fired and .5% accuracy yet come away with the most hits and nicely toned trigger fingers.

It's also possible that we have so few threats that Chychrun's being guarded for the shot much more so than last season. He's probably getting closer coverage and less time to get off a shot. The sample size is also tiny, so this could be nonsense.
