Come back to us Dylan, we need pre 4 nations Larkin. Kane and Lucas were also awful tonight.

I am not buying the "he is tired" line for Larkin. He can be much better and next game I expect he will bring it.

i see mccellan rip larks , how bout anything bout a dumb coach (and whiny bitchy fans that think nhlers have full tanks all 82) not giving him a break vs a non conf team such as *ucks instead of running him totally outta gas with 8 games in 15 days ?????????? or is he supposed to be a robot ??? maybe hes human and by no fault of his own he cant haul the mail and forecheck like a maniac 24/7 for 8 games in 15 nites ???????

I love how every time we lose a game, it immediately is doom and gloom, the sky is falling, and the entire team is finished.

You'd think we were on a 5+ losing bender the way people talk here.

We've got 5 of a possible 8 points since hockey resumed. Which is a .625 pace and more than plenty to make the playoffs.

We're not just going to go from win streak to win streak.

Oh, worst game for a while.

We were just collectively bad, every line, every D-pair.

They need to rebound from this.

McLellan used some new lines in the end, did give rest for Larkin and Raymond, when the game was "over". 2nd Compher line did get most ice-time in the end.

DeBrincat - Compher - Kane
Söderblom - Larkin - Tarasenko
Berggren - Kasper - Raymond
Motte - Veleno - Fischer

I guess Larkins the whole teams and if he struggles a night the entire team can't produce.

He's the captain, everyone was lame, but he'll fall on the sword.

Three of the goals were kinda rough tips/screens. Rough game, predictable for the match up Saturday. Biggest hockey game in sometime that looked like a dumpster-fire of an outdoor game six weeks ago. Had a chance to put someone away and missed the opportunity.

Damn, that wasn't the plan! What a nasty 10 minutes in the 2nd that was!
Well, let's tick it off and a revenge win in their stadium is a must!

The whole team seemed off and Larks/Ray had possibly their worst games of the season. Glad Mac said something. If you want to be a playoff team your two best players have to show up in games where the chips are down. Does it happen, sure, but it needs to be called out because we had free pass city going on for 4 years almost.

Wings also had every bounce not go their way tonight, which stinks. The didn't deserve a win with their play, but they also had some rotten luck too. Talbot had a good game and really cannot be blamed on any of the 4 goals.

Outdoor game is now a must win in regulation. Coming out even vs Columbus is fine. We just can't afford the 8 point swing.

Called out Larks and unnamed other big players for not showing up, and didn't allow for a 4 nations excuse.
Larkin looked like he was playing with a brain injury last night. Just awful. They should have sent him to the showers after the first period. I say this as a big fan. I expect a much better game Saturday.

I'd like them to dump Fischer (big disappointment this year) and Tank and bring Shine and Mazur up but relatively good with trying these lines. Larkin needs someone who can keep up with him skating wise. Wouldn't mine either popping Berg up with him and putting Mazur with Kasper/Ray or just putting Mazur in Tanks spot.

Soder-Larkin-Berg
DBC-Compher-Kane
Mazur-Kasper-Ray
Motte-Ras-Shine

Our 4th line has not looked good since Shine went down. Shine brought solid physicality to that line and helped them do some good board cycling.

The way he struggled to keep the puck and wasn't strong on his stick, I was guessing an upper body injury. But no one is hinting at it and his coach is calling him out... so maybe not.
That was my take too, but if he is gassed, he has played a lot of hockey this past month, now is the time to find him some rest, especially if Ras is back. Not saying sit him, but maybe some fewer minutes next game then an extra rest day. (After Saturday the next game is home with the Canes coming to town)

Would hate to LArks him go down due to a wear and tear injury. But much of team was off last night too, I didn't see Elmer lay a single hit, he had 7 against the Wild, one real good one too that made them rush their passes when he was on the ice, Motte had 5 against the Wild and the forward group out-hit the D almost 2:1.

Let's hope that that egg of a game is one and done.

Larkin needs to note one thing more than any other from this game. He totally flubbed a 2 on 1 and of course had that horrible play on the PP were he was all alone on the goalie and didn't even look to shoot.

Larks, put the puck on net.

I wasn't able to watch the whole thing, just the 1st and most of the 3rd, but something that seemed to pop to me was that JVR got under Seider's skin early, and I think it took Mo off his game. I don't want to call it dirty play, but JVR did a very good job at tripping Seider at the end of plays, of taking some liberties with him when he knew the refs were looking elsewhere and that it isn't often called if it is seen. I don't know how some folks will react to it, but Seider needs to learn to be dirtier.

This post is dripping with tears.

Did Werenski get any time off or look gassed last night? Without looking I would guess he played more minutes than Larkin at 4 Nations.

Columbus has played one less game after 4 Nations. Also had two days off between two of their games, while the Red Wings only had one day off, but also a back to back.

That said, it doesn't excuse his poor play.
