Another point on conversion: People want snipers brought in to alleviate the need for existing wingers to score, but that's just masking issues. This team can't afford to have Daniel become a pure playmaker. Nor Burrows, or any other big money producer already here.

We need a replacement for Daniel and Burrows.

Not true at all. Toronto believes that they can create as many chances as other teams with less shots. It's not about conversion, it's about scoring chances for them. (And I still consider it ********.)

I'm not talking about their mode, or what they want to do. I'm talking about their conversion rate based on shot totals. They get less total shots than the Canucks, they score more. So the Canucks have possession in their back pocket, without conversion, and the Leafs have the opposite.

Edit: TOR's All Situations SH% is 10.1% (5th), and VAN's is 7.8% (27th).

On the upside, made some more cash off of the Canucks tonight. I am thinking of going all in for Saturday's game... on the TML's to win of course.

Why didn't I think of this? Gambling! I could have been at least making some $$$ off all this misery.

Well, no time to start like the present.

I ended up missing the game to do....something fun. Something fun > Watching this team.

This team is a glass full of suck, and the glass is made of suck, and the air around the glass constitutes of suckitude molecules.

So you're never angry/upset when they lose?

I understand apathy, and I'm heading there, but right now I'm not good with what they are doing. Really not good. It's not that they are losing by being overpowered. It's that they are losing with their best forwards completely disappearing.

That's what it is to be a Canucks fan. You gotta make up little games and stories to tell yourself so you can sleep at night. If Tiranis tells himself that loses are great news because it means we get higher draft picks, then I'm not going to hold it against him. He's found his Canucks coping system.

I might need a better and more inventive coping system than just laughing to keep from crying, myself. We'll see how many losses in a row we get on this run, and I'll adjust as we go.

Might have to jerry-rig some kind of MacGuyver "punching contraption" that knocks me unconscious after every loss, to help dull the pain :sarcasm:

Welp. On the + side for the draft I could see the team finishing as low as 25th behind:

26th: NYI
27th: Calgary
28th: Florida
29th: Edmonton
30th: Buffalo

Dal Colle/Haydn Fleury/Brendan Perlini territory.

what are the odds of winning the lottery from that spot? just pretend for a minute that we dont have really ****** luck and the fact it would never happen.

anyone wanna give me a quick scouting report on Diaz, Kassian, and Schroeder tonight?

Kass is still looking dangerous, much stronger on the puck than earlier in the season. Schroeder needs to shoot the puck, had a couple glorious chances and opted for dumb passses. Gotta stop falling on his checks too, leaves guys free to breakout cuz he's on his butt. Diaz is soffft, but a decent player I guess.

Big fan of Perlini if we're in that range. Edit: see that you added him to your list.

Guy would surely satisfy many people's desire for a fast player.

Would not mind Perlini at all!

Well yes, it's a coping mechanism. I agree.

Me? I'm still in the anger phase. This team should be doing better than it is, and it's sad watching a good team scuttle their season like this.

The odd part, for me, is it's mostly on the big names... the depth has actually been much better this season than I thought it would be.

Kass - Pretty solid, nice play along the boards with Booth. No PP time, but the 2nd unit was looking good. Usual confusion on the backchecking assignments.

Schroeder - Looked good between Daniel and Burrows. Created some plays but they couldn't quite get into a rhythm early in the 3rd when they needed to.

Diaz - Like his game personally and looked solid on the PP. Got unlucky and fell on a pinch in the neutral zone that led to one of the goals. Him and Edler were pretty good apart from that I think.

I really think that 2011 SCF did a disservice to us. If we didn't make it that far, we would be pretty indifferent right now.

From that spot it would be 6.2%:

30th: 25%
29th: 18.8%
28th: 14.2%
27th: 10.7%
26th: 8.1%
25th: 6.2%

TPM, can we get a photoshop with some sort of scene where the canucks are chasing the Flames and Oilers in a race to the bottom?

Diaz and Edler were the cause of the second goal too. Diaz couldn't do anything to Bournival who was in the crease so Edler left his man to go after Bournival, bumped Luongo, and White had an easy shot for the goal.
