They're not the same as they were in their primes.

It's why Pens fans that know hockey have been calling for a rebuild for many years now. They're tired of watching this group of past their prime vets.

I was hoping for a much better season for Pittsburgh. With the addition of Karlsson, their roster looked like the cast of The Expendables – a bunch of grizzled old stars thrown together for one last adventure. Instead, the year has been an uninspired 'meh'.

Still, you've gotta appreciate watching the remaining Crosby era guys play at a high level. Whatever you think of him, Sid will go down in history as one of the all-time best who ever played.

Three Cups makes it go down a little easier, but yeah... Pens' fans are understandably restless. Is there any way in the world you trade Crosby or Malkin? I don't think so. Pittsburgh is probably stuck in limbo as long as those guys are on the team.

Yep and that doesn't allow for a rebuild.

They are acting like a guy who played 9 minutes a game for 10 games is the reason their team blows, and not the fact they have built around a core with an average age of 43 years old.
 
So Colin White got placed on waivers as a Penguin. Gets claimed by Montreal and will play his first game as a Hab against Pittsburgh without even traveling. He just waited for the team to arrive and joined them at the rink. That's wild
