i'll take the point. that's 3 pts on this trip and people said they would be happy with that.

also, if we win tomorrow night and NYR loses to the Pens, we're in 2nd.

3 points was ok before everyone in the east decided the weren't losing anymore, we really need the win tomorrow vs the sharks before the olympic break stops any momentum we have.

The olympic break is gonna wreak havoc with the team and I'm worried that the home stretch is gonna get ugly.

Exactly. Why trade Gaborik (and his nearly point per game) when we have to rely on a offensive black hole of a line with Anisimov/Umburger/Foligno?

That line has 4 goals in the last 2 games.

Don't get me wrong, I can't wait to see Gaborik back on the ice, but lets not paint too bleak a picture as this team is 9th in the league and 4th in the East in goals scored.

0 shots on goal in OT. We had like 3 possessions where we set up and had complete control of the puck and couldn't get anything close to the net.

I think 3 of the goals were on the PP. The line can't create offense together during 5-on-5 situations.

That sounds right, Anisimov is in a funk offensively, but the other two are coping pretty well with the loss of Johansen.

It's funny to think how many players magically morph their way into compromising situations, but only when Dustin Brown is around.

At some point, Dustin, the lowest common denominator is you.

Do they really need the scrolling bar under the TV anymore for scores? Everyone has a smart phone these days.

I actually called FSOH the first game they started that and complained for 20 min to a woman, she said she would pass my concerns along...obviously they didn't share my opinions...it's stupid and distracting. NBC doesn't do it. Funny thing is they never play it during the intermissions or pre-game talk when they SHOULD be playing it..

In two days, Brown will call Richards "coach" as part of Team USA, and Richards will embrace him as his own little head-hunter.

care to explain why?

A couple of reasons

1. Its looking like a toss up as to whether Bob starts for Russia and there are negatives either for either outcome. If Bob gets beaten out by Varlamov we could see some rust due to him not playing, and this also could cool off his play in general. Alternatively if he wins the starting job that's alot of extra work for Bob which could affect him down the stretch when we need him most.

2. In addition to Bob we also have a few other players going to the olympics (Nikitin, Tyutin, and Anisimov) who all will have extra work loads and have a chance (albeit very small) of injury)

3. The olympic break is a momentum killer for teams. The last month and a half the jackets have been on a roll, but this break is like someone tossing water on a fire. It stops all the positive momentum the jackets have been building.

It may seem a bit far fetched, however our most important player is Bob and as Bob goes so we go, therefore anything that can negatively affect Bob's play can negatively affect our chances of making the playoffs.

I am one of those that has gotten what he wanted. At least 3 points on this trip. That does not mean that I am taking my toys and going home. Of course I want 2 more points tonight. The key part of that phrase is "at least". If we aren't too tired, I say play balls to the wall tonight, because there will be plenty of time to rest after that.

Good point last night. I'll take it.

Basically you're saying it's bad to have to play the extra games and it's bad to not play at all.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but every team will have to deal with at least one of those, if not both, to varying degrees.

Umberger needs to go. I literally lost count of how many times the puck died on his stick, absolutely awful performance tonight after the first period. But of course what else do you expect when you need a win to keep pace...

Missing some creative offense from a Gaborik on nights like tonight.

RJ with Arty I don't like. Gaborik goes with Arty and Nicky when he returns. I don't know how that works R/L-wing-wise, but that's what I'd look at. Arty and Gaborik have played well together in the past. So have Dubi and Gabby, so I'd look there too if need be.

Obviously it'd be so much better if we could just insist our tribe team was the best and that would be enough. There wouldn't be any risk at all!

Thank you. Here is where I stand. I wanted half but will gladly take more. GO Jackets!!! Amazing how an 11-3 run makes an overtime loss a little easier to handle.

I think RJ plays on the right, as does Gabby, so that should work out. It's what I'd like to see tried, as well. Question then is, where does RJ end up? Horton and Cam play the right side on the next two lines, so does RJ replace one of them, move to the left (where he has played but, I believe, less effectively) and move Matt down to line 4, or does he replace Tropp on the fourth line, himself?

After tonight, they'll have more than two weeks to play around with the lines, minus only Artie. Should make for interesting chatter!
