I doubt you'll ever seem me imply or state that you allow yourself to become borderline irrational with your dislike of a player.

Thank you. Just hoping to avoid anyone else's other reading of your post as that.

HCTR bumped Calvert for DMac in one of the home games last week, for a shift or two. It seemed to get Matty going. I'm not opposed to tinkering with those combos as well, especially since, as I said earlier and major said above, Dubi has worked well with Gabby in the past as well.

What the line I'm currently complaining about :))) has going for it is long, active sticks, especially in the neutral zone. This creates chances.

Damn this post is rambly.

Official: no hearing for Brown.

As usual, I don't understand:

Brown came a long way to deliver the hit (he was, after all, given two for charging),
He left his feet to deliver the blow,
He extended his forearm to make contact,
And the principle point of contact was his opponent's head.

No additional discipline? I can only conclude that the threat of his suspension from the Olympics colored this decision. They may have felt he didn't deserve to lose that opportunity, especially since Murray returned to the ice.

I hope Ryan's teammates don't forget what happened.

He left his feet to deliver the blow,

Couple of small comments. After watching it a few dozen times, I think the act of leaving his feet was brought on by a loss of balance combined with is forward momentum. I didn't agree with that part of Rimer's assessment. IMO the hit was finished by the time he left his feet. To be honest, I see a lot of players leave their feet on board hits. Brown wasn't playing Superman there.

Another, I think the head as principle point of contact was incidental (Murray clearly ducked) based up a reckless play. Murray had time to see it, duck, and brace. I would think Brown would have had time to, at least, pull up. I think he should have been fined or suspended based on a reckless charge as opposed to a hit to the head. I think the disciplinary group needs to account for reckless play in their findings.

Elliot Friedman just said on Twitter that if Brown was suspended, it would have been enforced by the IIHF during the Olympics.

Would have been nice to see his undeserving ass not playing for Team USA as well.

It's a joke he even made the Olympic team. He is having a brutal year.

I haven't finished this game yet because I was too pissed at no one going after brown. If the guy being hit was one of the oilers' kids their first year it would have ended with brown getting beat down. CBJ acts like a tough team... why no response?

But hey, maybe they're not about jumping people after 'clean' hits. OK. Then lets see that same clean hit sending the heads and necks of doughty, kopitar, voynov, williams... and carter... waving around like that...

There's only two options: its clean, so copy it; or its dirty and its your best young rookie, do something about it.

Go ahead and take advantage of the powerplay when an old guy gets laid out. When its your highest potential kid you should probably have someone around with the willingness to beat some intelligence into brown.
